A lighthouse was first built on the Flamborough Headland in 1669 but was never lit. The current lighthouse was built in 1806 and acts as a waypoint for deep sea vessels and coastal traffic as well as marking the Flamborough Headland for vessels heading for the ports of Scarborough and Bridlington.

Tours of Flamborough Lighthouse are organised by East Riding of Yorkshire Council under licence from the Corporation of Trinity House.

Went here to walk along the cliffs towards South landing. The path was easy and obvious although it did become very muddy where the water flowed from the fields. Pleasant place for an easy cliff top walk.

Very beautiful unspoilt spot. Views are amazing. Easy walks around the cliffs. Lighthouses were closed but it us winter. It was busy but not too much. Parking is play and display, there are loos and a cafe.

Superb place to let the wind blow your top off! Beautiful cliff tops with good walking paths. Restaurant average but only had a coffee. There is a working lighthouse which stands proudly on the cliff tops in the beautiful warm sunshine today, and further back from the cliff tops is the very 1st lighthouse which is now just a local... Even on a very cold a frosty day Flamborough Head is a stunning place to walk. With none of the summer crowds you are free to wander along the cliff tops and amongst the grassy banks that surround the lighthouse. There is a car park right next to the lighthouse that makes for easy access to the views, even for... More

What a shame we had such awful weather the day we chose to visit. We should have put it off for another day. It was cold, windy and rainy, so we didn't have chance to enjoy the views and facilities. The cafe was closing as we arrived, since no one else was daft enough to be there. On a plus,... More

We've visited the Flamborough Lighthouse a few times. The first was coming back from a trip to Scarborough. It's a lovely stop to take a break and have a meal if you are hungry. The views are spectacular. It's especially nice at sunset. There are many benches to relax and watch the tide come in and out. It's a must... More
