From our hotel, The Hampton Inn, we walked to the monument. It is a nice walk along the lake. There are plenty of benches if you want to sit and contemplate Mother Nature. There is a nice fountain on the lake. The monument is a very nice tribute to the miners. Easy to walk around ,and same trail takes you to the sanctuary trail which is a little more difficult to walk. If you decide to go to visit the sanctuary trail, make sure you have very comfy and safe shoes.…

When visiting Elliot Lake this is a great place to visit. Miners names are placed on the plaques and the statues displayed show what Elliot Lake was all about. Not only that, but the view over Horne Lake is lovely, especially in the fall with all the golden and red colours.

Enjoy a coffee by the lake and watch the loons or go for a walk on the paved trail. There are two docks to fish from here also.
