Scott Fischer's memorial sticks out among the various stone buildings that are present and honor the many people who died on the mountain. It is large, vibrant, and clearly labeled. People also pay attention to his memorial because he appeared in the movie "Everest."

On the way back from a successful trek/climb, take a moment to doff your hoods to the pioneers and stalwarts of the Solkhumbu.

A place of moving tribute to all climbers who have lost their lives on Everest. Here is a picture of two Sherpa, they are part of the unsung hero’s who risk their lives so non-Sherpa can climb Everest.

Just half an hour uphill trek from Thukla, you’ll find a plateau where just really sad stories of a lotta climber, sherpas and trekkers who died on the way to EBC or Everest summit. There were a few stories we read on the tombs where these people died on the way back too. A few memorial we saw where people were killed by avalanches, a few in terrorist attack and others in the Nepal earthquake in 2015. Trekkers stop at this point to read the stories on the tombs, pay homage and respect to all those great souls who died on the way to their bigges adventures of their lives. We also saw the memorial of Scott Fisher from the movie EVEREST.
A very overwhelming experience for anyone.
A must stop on The was from Dingboche to Lobuche.

Up at the top of Chukpa Lare, after a pretty grueling ascent from Thukla, you cross under some prayer flags and are awarded with the sight of numerous stone markers and cairns. On closer look, it turns out to be a pretty sobering sight - these are not decorative or religious markers, but memorialize those who have lost their lives while climbing Everest.

The majority of EBC Treks will pass through Chukpa Lare so whether or not it's worth it to visit isn't a relevant discussion; however, it's definitely a good reminder to take it slow and be careful while climbing or trekking.

Scott Fischer was a renowned mountaineer who tragically lost his life during a disastrous expedition on Mount Everest in 1996. His passing was a great loss to the mountaineering community, and in the years since his death, there have been many tributes and memorials to honor his memory.

One of the most significant memorials to Scott Fischer is the plaque that was installed at the base of Mount Everest in his honor. The plaque reads, "In memory of Scott Fischer, a climber who lived his dreams and inspired others to do the same."

A very serene place to remember those who have died trying to summit Everest. Really puts into perspective the dangers of mountain activities, but how much those who does loved the challenge. Very well done memorial.

This is an important memorial. There is a stone placed perfectly to sit and reflect. A must see, particularly for anyone who has read Into Thin Air.

I loved this section of Everest region where there are plenty of laid memorials to those that have passed trying to summit Everest and other peaks as well. The Scott Fischer ones stood out the most as it was big, colorful and had a big name on it. The others were also great and reading their dedications and what they were trying to achieve made me respect these brave souls.

This is the Mt. Everest Memorial site in an area known as Chukla Lare, Khumbu Region. Here there are cairns, prayer flags and memorial monuments everywhere, honouring all the climbers and sherpas who have died attempting to climb Mt. Everest. This puts the whole thing into perspective really, the madness of mountaineering and the length people will go to try and reach the summit of the worlds highest mountain with no guarantee of coming back out alive. I did EBC which is a walk in the park compared to what these people are doing, you have to admire them.
