Museo storico diffuso "Percorso della memoria": un sito straordinario dove la storia d'Italia si tocca con mano, dai drammi della seconda guerra mondiale fino al fantomatico rifugio antiatomico del Presidente della Repubblica edificato durante la guerra fredda. Visite guidate su prenotazione, all' interno dei rifugi antiaerei creati da Mussolini per il governo italiano e che tra il 1943 e il 1944 furono sede del Comando Supremo nazista della Wermacht di Kesselring durante i dieci mesi più drammatici della seconda guerra mondiale. La visita conduce il gruppo in un crescendo di drammaticità e patos fino al bunker antiatomico del Presidente della Repubblica e del Governo Italiano realizzato durante la guerra fredda a 300 metri sotto la roccia! Visita media 2 ore, consigliati abiti comodi e caldi (temperatura interna 10-12°). Prenotazione obbligatoria. Aperto tutte le domeniche, mentre nei giorni feriali è richiesto un gruppo minimo di 10 persone con orario da concordare.

Not just a simple museum site that collects the historical memories of about forty years, but a real traveling exhibition that tells what it wanted to be, what it was and what it could have been. Interesting and instructive. I will definitely come back for further information. Perfect our guide, Arianna, who illustrated the tour with competence and pleasant comment, accompanying us in the maze of this site full of history and also of legends.

Very close to Rome and easy to reach. I visited the place with my son following the suggestion of an Italian friend. You have to book in advance and join a guided group to visit and usually visits are only on Sunday. The guide will speak Italian but if you have a good understanding of WW2 and the cold war you will make sense of what you see. I have been to other WW2 museums, but this has the advantage of being in the place where the war was fought. My opinion is that the WW2 part is far more interesting also for that time advanced technical solutions. After the visit take a walk around the village. By chance I stepped into a pastry shop, which had incredibly tasty homemade pastry.

A piece of story to visit. The internal tour is well organized ad it lasts more or less 3 hours. The guide is very prepared, friendly and polite.
The temperature inside the bunker is cold (10- 12 Celsius degree) so a jacket is necessary.
1,5 h from Rome. The car is recommended.
It’s necessary to book the tour and it is cheap (10 €)

Banker Soratte is worth the visit and is only a short drive from Rome. Really knowledgeable and passionate guide provided history about the bunker's use during both ww2 and the cold war. Would highly recommend.

I did not know to book a visit on advance. One group was inside the mountain and the wait would have taken two hours which I unfortunately did not have. The staff was VERY nice and they work voluntarely for the site. Museum was closed but I got a short peek inside it from the the nice staff. So plan in advance and visit the place on Sundays 10:30 AM when the first group starts. Check the opening hours as they are open only on specific Sundays.

One of the most engaging WWII locations in Italy. The tour is only in Italian but it seems someone will translate for you. See where Kesselring commanded the German Forces. There is still the chance that the Germans did not recover all the Gold they buried there. You will enjloy the sights from atop the mountain. I've be going here for over 50 years and I never get tired of uncovering fascinating facts.

Great way to spend two hours in the cool mountain. Lots to see but no English spoken throughout. You can still get the gist from early engineering, to Mussolini, Kesselring and through the Cold War and the nuclear threat. Sherman tanks, ballistic missiles, cracking views and a lovely village to boot! Shop selling memorabilia but no cafe. All in all a good day. Take a torch and kids will be pretty bored as our guide knows his stuff but can talk for Italy. Enjoy!

This was absolutely amazing!! If you like history, than this is your place. Our guide and President of the Associazione Bunker Soratte, Gregory who is very knowledgeable and passionate about the subject, gave us an excellent tour of the place in English. Would definitely recommend it and by visiting you would be helping the volunteers who are restoring and opening these bunkers to the public.

This was a fascinating place to visit but would have been so much better if there had been an audio guide in English available. The most we learnt was from a very kind English speaking Italian fellow visitor who filled us in after the tour.
Just be aware in advance that there is zero English spoken on the tour.
