Very calm, clean, quiet, very nice village, great food and nice people. Recommended for people that like natural landscapes, quiet places and to have a nice break.

Nemi is for sure one of the most suggestive villages in Lazio. This village, one of the 16 Roman Castles, is known throughout the world for the beauty of its landscapes and for the strawberry festival held every year on the first sunday in June. In that occasion thousands of tourists come from every part of the world.
Nemi is loved by couples , by families and by groups of friends. It' s the perfect place to have a rest, to relax , to spend a holidays period and to admire the sunset. Here the temperature is fresh and pleasant at any time of the year, particularly in summer.

I go walking in the area quite often and it is just beautiful. Quiet and pleasant. The view of the lake from the top is splendid.

The final and ultimate destination in our day tour of the Castelli Romani.
The view over the lake is fabulous but it’s even better when sat at one of the roadside cafe bars that serve the local all year round sweet strawberries under various guises.
The local shops propose an even wider range of products: fragolino to drink, jams to spread, etc. etc.
Further on through the town is a little path that passes by a fountain dedicated to Diana and reputedly mentioned in one of Byron’s poems.
At the end of the path is a bar with another great view over the lake.
Well worth the visit.

Nemi is so lovely, the lake is peaceful and the town quaint! Lovely strawberries around April-May and the strawberry tarts are lush! Nice to walk about the tiny streets and breathe the fresh air!
Def lovely place to see!

You really need to use your imagination and go back in time just to imagine Caligula ships floating on a lake.

Wonderful! you cannot say more! The place is simply a gem!
We went there on June 3rd and it was a wild strawberries fest. A lot of people enjoying flowers, berries, truffles, sausages, and most important one -overlooking Nemi lake, formed in an ancient volcanic crater, it’s an idyllic scene to wile away the hours eating strawberries. Flower settings are amazing!
Try wild strawberries pastries and liqueurs, try truffles salsa, try sandwich and pizza!
We have spend marvelous day there!

Stunning lake that looks like it has been scooped out of the landscape... which it has, by a volcano. Steep sides, very calm water, great views. Several villages surround the Lake & during a break from nature, you can eat like a local at one of the tiny trattoria. Great break from the quick pace of Rome.

Lago di Nemi is an extinct volcanic crater that has filled with water and is kept full by rainfall. There are a number of similar crater lakes in the vicinity of Rome, the most well known being Castelgandolfo.
Lago di Nemi is famous for two things: first for the incredibly delicious wild strawberries that thrive in its rich volcanic soil. To eat one of these is to have a gastronomic explosion in your mouth! The second is the museum that once housed the large Roman ships that were found and excavated from the lake bottom in the 1930s. Alas they no longer exist as were burned by the cowardly retreating Germans at the end of WWII.
A visit to Lake Nemi forms part of a long day's driving itinerary from Rome to Catel Gandolfo and Arricia.

Ciao
Grazie a tutti

I cani possono entrare?

Is it possible to hike from the town down to Lake Nemi, and how long does it take to go up and down in total? Thanks!
Written January 28, 2020
Yes it is. Two and half hours are enough to go up and down. I have never done it , but I heard about it. You need of course appropriare shouse.
My suggestion is to be acommodated at Holiday Homes - mini spa - Nemi in order to go down from Nemi to the lake and back home to enjoy a sauna and turkish bat at home. Full relax.

How is Nemi in February? Is it nice on a rainy day? What is the best way to get there from Rome by public transportation?
Written February 7, 2019
Nemi in this February is very nice, during the day there are about 14 degrees
For public transport from Rome-Anagnian take the bus to Genzano di Roma, from there reach the lake are about 2 km

Written May 15, 2018
