Absolutely awe inspiring place to visit, such a huge and dramatic waterfall. Quite a few steps to the lower viewing area though ai did notice a minibus that will take you down. There's also a high viewing level involving no steps.

it is quite a trip from Reykjavik, especially when driving on your own in Winter, but it is certainly a good idea to do the "Golden circle" tour when in Iceland. In my opinion Gullfoss is together with the big Geysir the highlight of the tour

Gullfoss for me is a must see. Huge waterfall which I hadn't heard off before planning my Iceland trip. Would recommend sturdy boots for this it was snowing very heavily when we were there and it was very slippery around the footpaths for those without well gripped boots. A must see.

Beautiful place, very natural and awesome. Can't believe that water is continually running even in the middle of winter. There are steps to climb up and down to. Picturesque.

Loved this phenomenon !! Stunning scenery but as we visited in winter access to the immediate falls was restricted for safety but didn't spoil the trip at all. Wrap up v well and wear waterproofs & sensible shoes as it's wickedly windy, freezing & if it rains you will get soaked!! The cafe there is lovely but the floors are... More

We went to the falls as part of the Golden circle tour. The views are out of this world. A must not miss destination. On the day of our tour it snowed very hard indeed and made the walk down to the lower viewing area hazardous but well worth the effort. There is both a fast food and main restaurant... More

January is cold. And windy. And snowing. And none of that mattered - it is stunning and makes you feel absolutely tiny

Absolutely fantastic. Perfect scenery, especially in winter time with the snow and ice.. Watching the power and hearing the roar, very highly recommended.

In January, it's pretty windy and icy, but cool nonetheless. The water remains a deep blue amid the rocks and ice, making it fairly unusual. The roads in the area were very icy, so drivers should be quite cautious.

In mid-January the falls are mostly frozen. Very cold but so worth the trip. Be sure to wear heavy duty winter gear including grips on the bottom of your shoes for the extremely icy conditions.
