See my review of the golden circle drive, this was the farthest point from Keflavik airport. The falls were so large that they disappeared in the distance into the fog.

Minus 10 degrees and sharp wind chill. Steps to walk down to view falls at lower level, rather frosty, needed good grip on the shoes. Amazing sight in the sunshine with rainbows created by the water. Also can be viewed from higher up, amazing natural...More

We went in December so there was snow and ice. Be careful walking down the ramp as it was very slippery. The view was amazing. Dress warm as it was windy but absolutely worth it.

This is a great stop along the Golden Circle, but it's very crowded and a bit anticlimactic, since you can see most of the fallsfrom a distance as soon as you arrive. There is also no windbreak, so be prepared to freeze!

There is no question that the waterfall itself is extremely impressive, but it's also very, very busy (see my photo). And we went on a miserable rainy day at the end of November. If you're there in the winter you might need ice walkers to...More

Definite tourist destination. One of many beautiful waterfalls in Iceland. View from the bottom is definitely nice, the walk up wasn't really worth it since you can't see the waterfall from the top.

I'd reviewed the itinerary for our Golden Circle tour and was very impressed by the majesty and power of the Gullfoss falls, however, nothing but being there would convey how stunning the falls are when frozen in the winter chill. It couldn't have been more...More

This one is the definitely the one which gives you some sort of emotional feelings. Exciting experience! If you're travelling in other time than winter, I recommend to go as close as you can get, as you can get a better look of the stairs...More

Where are you staying? In which town? The Golden Circle is a must-see and it certainly is worth a detour.

We were on the Golden Circle EXPRESS tour which gave us 45 minutes there in very extreme weather. If the weather had been clear, we'd have wanted longer (not least to walk down the route that was closed on the day we were... More
