Gullfoss was the number one highlight of the Golden Circle for us. Absolutely fantastic. Be sure to go to the upper and lower levels to get all of the views. Was really amazing.

Wife and son went to see other falls that were an hour hike off the road. My younger son wasn’t up for a hike, so we drove to Gullfoss. We had a decent lunch at the visitors center. That place isn’t quite as nice as...More
Gullfoss was spectacular to see! The falls were really a site. You can walk on a higher path where you won't get sprayed at all or you can walk on a lower path where you get closer to the falls - you won't get wet...More

As part of our Viking tour, we stopped here when it was raining. We were cautioned to not go down to the lower part unless we were extremely cautious. Apparently a woman had recently had a serious fall by hurrying on the slippery surface.

We were on the Golden Circle EXPRESS tour which gave us 45 minutes there in very extreme weather. If the weather had been clear, we'd have wanted longer (not least to walk down the route that was closed on the day we were there). As it was, the timing worked out ok. I'd definitely recommend that you get the traditional lamb stew with bread rolls at the cafe there. You can refill up to 3 times at no extra cost and it's DELICIOUS!
