About
The museum take place in a typical edict of tolerance church, built in the second half of the 18th century. Our museum opened in May 2018. The exhibition "Shelter in Eternity" is an unusual one, as it breaks with the traditional historical, chronological structure and has a completely new thematic approach. It is based on the biblical guide, and begins with the animation of the creation story and with the scene of the Fall of Man. As before, the theological thoughts on the rollers are still about the fundamental eternal issues of the Christian message. By presenting available tangible heritage and applying religious, ethnographical approach, the surfaces of the furniture is used to introduce popular piety. The highlighted stations marked with grape clusters are for children, and present topics in a rather entertaining and playful way. The other exhibition is the egyptian exhibition called Hori's secrets. An egyptian coffin and mummy display here, which were found in Akhmim.

The history of Protestantism goes back to the 16th Century. If you think such a subject can only be boring, you have not visited this museum yet. This refurbished old church hides gems of liturgical and craft objects and shares them using the most up-to-date tools of museology. Their Egyptian mummy, as well as the temporary exhibition and the great café of the museum, are only extras on top of that.

I visited the museum exhibition and I can attest that it is great. The local guide was extremely polite and showed us the whole exihibition consisting of the belongings of the Calvinist church parish. The biggest must-see is definitely Egyptian coffin and mummy.
The only drawback is that all description and guide explanation is provided in Hungarian only (no audio guides in other languages are available). So be sure you have a Hungarian speaker always with you.
