un abbazia del tempo dei longobardi, restaurata nell'XI secolo. Passate un arco ed entrate in un mondo ormai passato. Vale una deviazione, come dice la guida Michelin !

Veramente bella e particolare. Una costruzione che ti porta in un'atmosfera "antica" di campagna Toscana.
Bellissimo e suggestivo il presepe vivente che realizzano a Natale.
Il ciuco Paolino, che abita nelle stalle della Pieve, è il beniamino dei bambini tutto l'anno.

Ci ha fatto da guida il prete ma anche senza la pieve mantiene il suo fascino. Con lui siamo andati fin su al campanile. C'è una lunga scala verticale di lato a sinistra, non adatta a chi soffre di vertigini, poi un'altra piccola scala. Ma dall'altro la vista è mozzafiato, si vedono le pale eoliche di Pontedera e le gru del porto di Livorno.

La Badia di San Savino si trova nel Comune di Cascina, Provincia di Pisa, vicino alla riva sinistra dell’Arno. Faceva parte di un grande complesso monastico, il Monastero di San Savino, ora trasformato quasi completamente in abitazioni private. Ancora oggi, passando sotto un’arcata e percorrendo un'ampia scalinata, s’accede al sagrato della chiesa, che fu costruita in stile romanico, con l'interno a croce latina. La torre campanaria e' stata ricostruita dopo che fu abbattuta dai tedeschi nel 1944.

Ho sposato in questa bellissima badia. Unico monumento nazionale nel comune di cascina.

Chiesa immersa e giacente nel mezzo della campagna cascinese ed immersa in un piccolo borgo sopraeelvato da cui si gode una vista panoramica... direi quasi unica come ubicazione.
