We drove 50 KM away from Jaisalmer towards the western border of Rajasthan with Pakistan. We stopped at the Sam San Dunes to begin our camel ride for 30 minutes on the sand dunes. The sunset was magnificent and the local musicians enchanting tunes complete this memorable experience. Lots of children trying to sell us spring water and canned beer.... More

This is my fifth visit to Sam sand dunes. The camel ride is a must . They initially quote 150₹ and might come down to 100₹ . They will take you for a 200 meter ride to sunset point and quotes 200-300₹ more if you want go for a safari. It's better you talk and negotiate in advance . You... More

The locals should learn that a litter free tourist attraction is more appealing. The camel safari involves riding a camel for around 2km - which in itself is pleasant. The camel guides engage in broken English. But the litter strewn all over the dunes is not very pleasant to look at.

We had to cancel our stay at the overnight camp due to unavoidable circumstances and are glad that we didn't stay there! The place is highly commercialised and can not provide any authentic experience. The camel owners charge way beyond the officially stipulated price! There is no control from any organisation/body. Camel owners drop the travellers just 200-300 meters off... More

Excellent destination. Its not a common type location found in India. The sand dunes are just covering a small area ,but worth experiencing. Jeep safari in desert is also a must do activity. For cost cutting try to avoid taking packages directly from Jaisalmer .Better hire a taxi to Sam and pay for individual items, such as cell ride, jeep safari, swiss tent or... More

This is the place travellers have in mind when they make a plan to visit Jaisalmer. This was the high point of our Rajasthan trip. You can just lie down on the sand and enjoy the landscape or choose to endulge in Camel Safari and Dune Bashing. The best time of day to visit the place is from 4:30-6:30 PM
