Just a quick tour from jaisalmer only
If u have a vehicle just go to sunset point n take a camel ride. Avoid jeep safari. They just cheat for thrill. They will take u to quadbikes with extra payment. And then to gliders again extra. Well recommended for adventourous ones. Camps are mostly shabby in winters.

A Mesmerizing Desert Escape at Sam Sand Dunes
My recent visit to Sam Sand Dunes near Jaisalmer was nothing short of enchanting, offering a glimpse into the mystical beauty of the Thar Desert. The vast, rolling sand dunes painted a picture of serenity against the clear desert sky. The evening cultural extravaganza was a highlight, with traditional Rajasthani folk music and dance performances that added a vibrant touch to the desert landscape. The sunset camel safari across the dunes was a surreal experience, allowing for breathtaking views of the changing colors as the sun dipped below the horizon. Camping under the starlit desert sky was a magical experience. The comfortable tents provided a cozy retreat, and the campfire added to the overall warmth of the evening. Waking up to the soft hues of dawn and the tranquil silence of the desert was truly surreal. The hospitality of the locals and the camp organizers was commendable. They went out of their way to ensure a comfortable and memorable stay, sharing local tales and ensuring we experienced the best of desert life. While the adventure of dune bashing was exhilarating, it's essential to note that the delicate desert ecosystem deserves respect. Conservation efforts were visible, and responsible tourism practices were encouraged. In conclusion, Sam Sand Dunes is a must-visit for those seeking an immersive desert experience. The captivating beauty, cultural richness, and warm hospitality make it a destination that lingers in the memory long after leaving the golden sands behind.

Desert is good but be careful on timing
Desert is good but be careful on timing. The best time to visit is Mid Oct to Mid Mar. We visited in end of March and faced following problems: 1) It was very hot in afternoon 38 C 2) The camp we booked was already closed in 1st week of Mar and we were not informed. Cab driver discussed with the only watch man in the camp and arranged other working camp. Is was horrifying experience. 3) Water was not available for 24 hours in camp washroom. 4) After 1st week of Mar people prefer to stay in Hotel in Jaisalmer, visit dunes in evening and return back. If you visit to stay in camp with family after 1st week of Mar then be careful that you won't find many families staying with you in big lonely camp of Desert.

Located at a distance of 40 kms from the city, this is a must visit place for those who come to Jaisalmer. Try to reach here by 4 pm after which you can ride on either a camel or a camel cart that will take you to the sunset point. You will feel absolutely amazing in the midst of the Thar desert. Witness a magical sunset and then take part in the desert festival organized by various camps which showcases Rajasthani culture in the form of music and folk dance. Have dinner and then return back to the city or if you wish you can also spend the night in one of the desert camps.

Visited Sam Sand Dunes in December 2023. These dunes in the Thar Desert are 40 km from the Jaisalmer City.
There are several Desert Camps in the Sam Dunes. The tariff includes Camel Safari (But to get top the camel safari, you have to pay for the jeep transport (ripoff and not forth coming, crammed 9 people in the back of the jeep)), late evening cultural program showcasing Rajasthan's music, folk dance and puppet show (These things are so loud as they need to supress the other competing venues which are close by and they all have loud music, all you can hear is Mike Check, Mike Check..It is unbearably loud). Snacks are served during the cultural program. This is followed by dinner in which Rajasthani cuisine is served. Before departure next morning breakfast is served (Except for Chai all the food is bad, simply bad). The place itself is dirty, all the garbage is right behind everyone's tent and it stinks..

We recommend staying at, Sam Sand Dunes Desert Safari Camp, a pleasant stay in the middle of the Thar desert to give you a completely unforgettable experience.

They offer you Perfect Desert Package which includes overnight stay in Swiss Cottage tent, Camel safari, Cultural evenings with Rajasthani performances, Dinner and Breakfast.

The tents are clean & spacious, with attached bathrooms.. The bed was good and blanket was warm to keep us cosy from the chilly night.. They have power backup too..

Later in the evening witness traditional performances of traditional folk music & dance. Indulge in the best ever authentic Rajasthani dishes for dinner, to delight your taste buds.

First visit to Jaisalmer and this is what we came for. The thar desert. Great sand dunes but was disappointed to see loads of rubbish and plastic bottles which show up everywhere.

You can have a camel ride or jeep experience or simply take some stunning pics and enjoy the views which we did. We only spent half an hour here but if you go to Jaisalmer it’s not to be missed. It’s a short drive outside the main city. We did take a guide but it didn’t turn out as expected. Our hotel also did tours and they were half the price of the one we did, so shop around for something that suits. When we went during the afternoon it was not that busy, at night it gets busier and many stay in tents to sleep under starry skies. . The weather was glorious and we have beautiful photos of blue sky and yellow dunes with just us in the picture.

Exceptional experience of the golden desert. Great mornings and enchanting evenings. Camel and Jeep safaris add to the fun.

Good nearby resorts, served and supported by courteous people.

Most resorts have a great cultural evening of singing and dances.

Check for the Vegetarian-Non-Vegetarian food options.

Safe, secure and accessible environment.
