Thorangla is one of the biggest passes in the Nepal Himalayas. With 5410 meters high, never go there without been acclimatized. Leave water with you and if the weather changes, retreat! If everything is okay, you’ll have a wonderful view to the mountains. But remember. Arrive there is only the half way...

We experienced the most snow that the Annapurna Circuit had seen in over 15 years. 6 days full of snow trekking. The hike over that pass was spectacular, and all that it was said to be; however with afternoon melting snow the trek downhill was trying. Something for a 64 year old to look back on with pride.

There isn't much to see. It's the climatic event of the Annapurna Circuit but really, it is only a cold and stony desert. If you do the whole circuit and have been hiking for days already and experienced the cold, you probably know yourself what Thorung La will be like. It is more of a achievment than a reward with nice views or the like.
