A very informative and nicely laid out museum dedicated not only to volcanos but to the formation of Reunion.
The displays and information is very good and there is an audio guide.
There is also a 4D cinema.
At the end of it you will...More
You will learn about not only volcano but other topics as well such as the creation of Reunion Island, how the vegetation will grow after an eruption, the monitoring of the volcano with the graphs of its activity over the years and more.
There is quite a lot to see here and most of it I could walk through quite quickly. 4-D cinema experience was not that great, have been to much better. What I found most interesting was the films of previous eruptions, which were in a...More
I learnt that there are different types of volcanoes and unique elements of Reunion island. I think 4D movie was just ok. But audio guides was good for non french speakers like us. Highly recommend
Leaves more than 2 hours for going through everything!
We enjoyed the visit of this Museum. You will need about 2 hours to see everything, so arrive not later than 15 00.
There is anice shop in the Museum where you can buy some local handicraft and minerals.
This muséum is surprisingly good. Modern an high tech but not pretentious. Very informative but still pleasant and attractive. Definitely worth a stop on your way to the volcano. Don't miss the "4D" movie for a modest 2 euros extra it's worth them!!!
