Family 5* fun
Aug 2021
we visited Wistow Maze again this year when staying with friends. It is such a great day out, enough for everyone and all levels. The sunflowers were in full glory and a nice addition. Good old fashioned fun and doesn't break the bank for what you can make as a full day as you can take as long as you like! Everyone enjoyed themselves and it was lovely to be in great outdoors with friends, although keeping mindful of others and all the necessary covid precautions we really felt very comfortable.

A brilliant day out for all ages!

We have been coming to this maze as a family every year (except last when it was closed) for the last seven years now, and we always have a great day! Now our children are 10, 12 and 14 we can get around the whole maze and find all the clues in a couple of hours, and it's a great way to get the children active and working together as a team, as well as practising their map reading skills!
We love the way the maze is designed so that you don't end up down any dead ends, and it's just the right level of difficulty, fairly challenging, yet pretty hard to get completely lost!
We particularly liked all the sunflowers in the maze this year, and our children really enjoyed the mythical beasts theme to the quiz questions.
It felt very covid-safe, with the maze, and the field of fete-type activities, all being outdoors.. The staff are always super friendly and helpful, and we also like popping over to the garden centre across the way to see the mini-village there.
I would recommend Wistow Maze to families with children and adults of all ages as a great value and fun family day out!

Great fun

A brilliant day out. Such a simple concept, but what fun. Excellent value for money. Where else can you spend 4 hours for just £8.50 (adult). Seven year old grandson learnt the concept of reading the map and from then onwards led us to most of the quiz boards before declaring he was so tired he wouldn't be able to play with his ipad later on. Thank you.

Excellent fun day out with the kids, well-laid out catering to all age groups in the family with great host too. Good exercise opportunity whilst having fun, absolutely loved it! Diana and her team are such a warm hosting team whose hospitality is second to none! Will certainly be back for more! Thank you so much Diana, the girls and I enjoyed it immensely!

Nice money-spinner

Very expensive for what it was and arrangements for social distancing poor. Adult price is £8.50 and children over 2 £6.95. A mixture of maize and sunflowers which is a nice idea. It took ages to get to the middle where it seemed the only quick exit was marked.

The entry kiosk is also the exit so you have people going in and out of the same narrow doorway.

Brilliant!

A fantastic day out! If you take a picnic you can easily spend the whole day there, finding your way around the maze, enjoying the activities and exploring the garden centre just across the road. Those with younger children just be aware that the toilets are located at the garden centre so if you get caught short mid-maze it can be a bit of a dash.
It’s well organised and fun for everyone! Highly recommend!

Well worth a visit!

A lovely afternoon spent solving the maze with my husband, 10yr old and 13yr old. This was our 4th or 5th year visiting and I don’t think I’ve ever seen the maize growing so high! Impressive maize design as always but a poignant symbol of hope and rebirth as we come through the pandemic. There was an abundance of sunflowers too which were beautiful. Well organised and clearly explained. Fun quiz to solve as we worked our way round too. Extra games and activities in a good sized picnic area for when you’ve completed the task. All staff very friendly and helpful and one of the members of staff, Lauren, diligently kept the picnic tables clean. I would highly recommend a visit! Great for older children and also something interesting to do together across the generations.

Amazing maze!

We took our three grandchildren aged 13 and 10 yesterday. They had such fun following the map, solving the quiz boards and learning how the maze was constructed from knowledgeable friendly staff. We’ll be back next year!

Great day out
Jul 2021 • Family
I took my 8 year old son to the maze today , he told me it was “The best day out I have had for ages.” This is a great day out for all ages, you can spend as much time as you want and re- enter the maze as often as you like . As well as the maze there is a fantastic play area , where you can play lovely old fashioned games . Across the road is a cafe and some little shops. There is plenty of free parking. There is also room to have a picnic . My son and I had a lovely time trying to navigate our way around the maze and finding the questions as we laughed and chatted.
Recommendations : take wellies if it has been raining and a pen .
