Bangabandhu Safari Park in Gazipur Dhaka , is the second of its kind in Bangladesh. Yes, as many of you may not know , there is another safari park in Chokoria, Chittagong, called “Dulahazra Safari Park’ on the way to Cox’s Bazaar. But Bangabandhu safari park in Gazipur is much better then the one in Chittagong in all aspects.
Location: BSP is situated in Sreepur upazila of gazipur district . It is about 2 to 3 hours drive from Dhaka city (depending on traffic ) .
How to get there: If you are going with family , the best way to go is to hire a car from any rent-a-car. Average cost will be 2500 to 3000 taka for round trip. There are also buses running from Dhaka to Gazipur , but in that case you will have to get of on the main road then take another vehicle (auto-rickshaw or taxi ) upto the gate of the park.
Timings : park is closed on Tuesdays. Other days open from 9 am to 5 pm.
Ticket price: Entry ticket- 50 BDT/ person
Parking – 60 BDT / car
Bus ride inside core safari- 100 BDT/ person
You will have to buy separate tickets for each amenities inside the park ranging from 20 – 100 BDT/ person.
Activities : the park is divided into two parts 1) core safari and 2) safari kingdom.
Core safari – Core safari starts from 11 am in the morning. There is an AC mini bus that will take you inside the safari for the ride. The ride is about 20 minutes long. As the bus pass through the forest and captivities you will see wild animals moving around in the open. You can see giraffes, zebras, deer, bison. Then the bus moves into the carnivorous in closers , and you will be excited to see tigers, lions , bears . The tiger and lion territories are the most famous and thrilling.
Safari kingdom- this part of the park has different birds including Macaw, parrots, hornbill, Peacocks and many other . there is a small butterfly in closure, fish aquarium , Carp pond , Swan and duck pond , boat ride. There is a national history museum, and alligator pond also.
Food & Drink- there are two restaurants called “ tiger Restaurant’ and “Lion restaurant” inside the park . These two restaurants are very interesting. In the tiger restaurant you can see the tigers and in the lion restaurant you can see the lions moving around you as you eat. As the restaurants are build adjoining the tiger and lion territory. There is also two food courts there where you can get cold drinks and snacks. Outside food and drink is not allowed inside the park. But I have notice the authority is not very strict about this rule. Many people specially those with children take their own food and water from home and find a nice shady place under a tree to enjoy it , without any problem.
You should take- make sure to put on a hat or cap, sunglasses, sun screen and take enough drinking water, umbrella . As it is usually very hot in the day time. And be prepared to walk a lot.
Duration – it will take about 4 hours to go around the park.

It is 50 Km away from Dhaka and located in Gazipur just few Km after the Bhawal National Park. You could plan the whole day or half to visit the place and enjoy all of it to the fullest. I highly recommend for family trip together with small kids and enthusiast adults...!!!
It takes 1 hour from Dhaka depending on the traffic. The road to the park is excellent with lots of scenic views. Spacious and secured car parking facility that could accommodate hundreds of vehicles. The first entry fee to the park is 50 Taka (0.65 USD) that gives access to the park, some of museums, few small aquariums, butterfly and bird cages, boating, small alligator pond and Koi carp feeding pond with some extra payment.
To have the jungle safari you have to buy a 100 Taka (1.5 USD) ticket for a ride throughout the Safari Park and there are a total of 4 Minibuses and 2 jeep like pick up vans, all air conditioned, secured and well maintained. The staff and management all are very welcoming and well behaved, let me share with you one instance: as it was Eid vacation so thousands of visitors came to the safari park and the queue to the safari ride became very long and the visitors became anxious, including me. So, I got out from the queue and went to the key entrance to learn about the situation and found the Chief Conservator (head of the safari park) himself have come out of his office and answering to the queries of the visitors and assuring them about the situation.
Then we had the safari ride through the park, it was mostly natural while different types of animals (carnivorous, herbivorous, etc.) are kept separately. However, each of the animals were in their best mood and eager to share their beauty and elegance. We could see well the Zebra, antelopes, gazelles, white lions and bears from a very close distance while the Royal Bengal Tigers stayed far away from the safari buses. It is a 40 +/- minutes ride and time passed by so quickly.
The bird cages are full of active parrots, cockatoos, Macau and other birds, the butterfly cage has a mini museum attached, the egg museum is soo interesting.
There are few food shops and 2 animal view restaurants, the foods are very reasonably priced.
At the end, I should say it was a great experience, though lots of critical comparisons could be done with other very famous safari parks of the world. But, we enjoyed our trip to Bangabandhu Safari Park, specially the kids. According to them “the best day in our life” which could be an over statement (due to excitements), however I should say a great day we had there...!

It is best safari park in Bangladesh. Many animals kept in natural environment. It's difficult to walk all the places need to find some transportation arrangements to cover main park and outside park. There was huge line and mismanagement in entry of main park with car. Car need improvement and should provided with more protection. But it's a good place to visit with family especially kids. Lot to learn and it was amusing to see African and other region animal in Vawal forest environment of Gazipur.
My baby daughter enjoyed a lot and she has many many stories to tell to grand parents :)

Harassed by the staff at gate. Very rude behavior and gang up on visitors by staff. Bought the tickets and after entering the gate the below pictured staff came and challenged us rudely to buy tickets for foreigners. Didn’t felt safe at all. Police was seating next to us but didn’t help. No ID was shown to us and felt extremely threatened

Poorly maintained, grasses were out of control. Hard to see any animal properly due to long grass. Only a few number of animals and they did not seem to be properly looked after. Transportation is expensive if you do not have a private car. Food quality and restaurant environment is very poor. If you are planning to visit anyway, I would highly suggest to bring your own food or eat from outside otherwise I will never suggest anyone to visit this park!!

I visited here last month with my fnf. The entrance is 50tk.
Bus fare is 100tk to show animals but unfortunately the driver drives so fast that he missed few animals.
We could not see white tiger.
The trip ends in 10 mins.

Like almost all govt. service entity this also lacks maintenance, vision and not at all customer friendly. You would expect some proper resting/seating place for a huge area like this, some better queue management and some good eating facility.Unfortunately it lack any modern facility for a theme park.
It can still be improved and can become one of our top attractions.

Something new in the heart of Bangladesh. Wild animals freely moving around in the enclosed wilderness. We moved inside the lightly forested area in the allocated bus of the Park authority. Saw Tiger, Lions, Giraffe, Black Bears, Deer, Dikdik, Wild boar, Byson inside the park. Each one has its own enclosures. The double automatic security gates gave protection from wild animals. The health conditions of the animals are not very good. Tigers and lions looked hungry and not with their vigour. They are given meat but they can not catch any living beasts. The fun part was only to move around with bus inside and to see the animals roaming around freely. It is not advisable to go on holidays or weekends when thousands of people pour in and it is difficult to get chances to get the bus. Hundreds of school children were standing 3/4 hours under sun to get the chance to go and see the animals. It is not only the entrance fee but there are other fees to visit different aspects of the park. There are restaurants around. Guests houses are there for the privileged class. There are children's park, birds and butterfly centres and other water animals. The whole ride inside the park of the wild animals are only 15 minutes. It is better to go early morning to see the animals otherwise they go inside bush to take shelter from the afternoon heat and there are little chances to see the animals. Winter is the best season to go there.
