This was a nice little church with some remnants of medieval decor inside. It was closed the afternoon that Chantal, our hostess at the Palazzo Masetti de Concina, took our family past it on a walk. I passed a few days later on my own and noticed that it was open, so went in. Small but worthwhile.

Worth a look if open (the bird fresco is particularly interesting).

To be fair, the high rating has much to do with my speculation that my grandfather may have been baptized here in 1902. I was unsuccessful finding records but assume his family was not prominent enough to have been baptised in the larger Duomo in San Daniele. You can tell this church has survived centuries and most recently, an earthquake in 1976

The Chiesa di Santa Maria della Fratta is a beautiful architected old world church. The inside is plain, but elegant.

Chiesa di Santa Maria della Fratta is a lesser known church in San Daniele del Friuli; the church is small and rather severe inside. The church is more than 7 centuries old. Interesting are the altar, the murals and the bell from 1566. It is worth the effort to step into the Via Cavour. At the far end the church is located. See the pictures.
