With explanation in English plus a couple of English handouts at the Shuzenji station tourist information center, I walked from the Shuzenji train station to the onsen town – no important tourist spots along the way; just local residences and farm plots. It was a good 2.5 km leisurely walk. Visited the main spots of Shuzenji Temple, bridges, a small... More

It is very beautiful in this area. You can take really nice pictures by including short red bridges over the river.

Shuzenji Onsen is a resort that Soseki Natume, a well-known Japanese novelist, loved and often visited. Same as he did a century ago, we visited a public bath and soaked in hot water. Newly renovated Hakoyu is not big, but clean. If your time allows, it is strongly recommendable to try Japanese Onsen.

Lots of hot spring waters, where you can refresh your tired legs. First time I was here in 2009, second time this April. The same amazing feeling about this little... More

The master and his sun are making food and served unsophisticatedly. I don't know why, I was impressed. It seemed there was Japanese old but good... More

Shuzenji is one of the best onsen hot spa resorts in Japan. Lots of culture and tradition ! It's very nice too that i could tour around the city without taking buses or trains because the town itself is very small. Maybe 1 - 2 hours are good enough to look around. Still, there are lots of attractions there. Shuzenji... More
