We visited during the day and it was interesting to stop for a while and watch the fishing boats unloading. But we only stayed 15 minutes, because there wasn't much to see. In the evening we returned and ate at one of the seafood restaurants. There wasn't a lot of atmosphere down there, but the food was good. My restaurant had no beer, so I walked out to the main street to get it. Ten minutes later they seemed to have got a stash in, so not sure why I was sent out to buy my own. Definitely a good place to eat.

Nice atmosphere to spend your evening by walking around and waiting for the sunset.
Some street-restaurant selling seafood, but I recommend "Enjoy Aja" and it's really tasty caused by you can eat it freshly, nearby the sea served by good chef. Best seafood I've ever tasted.

When I arrived the first time in a town near the sea, the first thing I wanna see is the harbour. Like in Waikabubak, I also visit the harbour. So it is when I was in Waingapu. I alsi want to see the harbour first. To see the ships anchored , the activitiea amongst the local people and thw sceneries of the harbour. The first this I saw about this harbour is old but it was very busy harbour with activities loading and unloading packaging. It is nice to se this habour ... Unforgetable...

You better come to Pelabuhan Lama (Old Port) if you have to stay in Waingapu. This port is not very crowded, even I couldn't see any harbor activities when i visited this place.

But, this place got some kind of nice atmosphere, so spending your evening by walking around and waiting for the sun to set is a great idea.

There's also something really good here. There's one street-restaurant selling seafood called "Enjoy Aja" and it's really tasty. You know that seafood tastes better if you eat it fresh and by the sea, plus the cook is really amazing.
Best seafood I've ever tasted.

We came here for dinner, so the pelabuhan (port) was practically closed at the time. But many of semi-alfresco restaurants served seafood in the area at night.

The food was simple and straight forward, but the taste was amazing! freshly caught seafood, grilled, fried, and stewed. Served with a plate of hot steamed rice and sambal, Sooo delicious...
