We took a row boat for 4(row boats can only go deep in the forest) for 550 INR. The boatman was expecting some tips(as expected) and was rowing very slowly. Once we discussed and decided on the tips, he started rowing faster; so negotiate on the tip asap after you get into the boat to make best use of the... More

A good boating place but you should plan to have a boat with you which is meant for 6 people not costly. Once you are in the boat can negotiate for a better deal.

We went with family including 2 kids under 7 years. There was lot of exitement but after taking a motor boat our exitement was zero...its just a boat ride...nothing else no birds and animals sights. But yes the scenery was good for a photo shoot.

The Pichavaram Mangrove is the 3rd largest in the world. Not only does it provide a habitat for diverse biology, according to the boatman, it protected the villagers when the South Asia tsunami hit. We saw a fox from afar, many birds, dragonflies.... The Mangrove is a feast to the senses. The scenery and sounds of different birds. Make sure... More

This place was very nice, calm and beautiful. We recommend to visit in the early morning hours, before ten, to avoid the crowds and hot sun. The boats are available from 8:00 AM to 06:00 PM. We were a party of four people who took the one hour/one Km ride around the Mangrove forest. The boat charge came around 280... More

This place is located near Chidambaram, Tamil Nadu. We visited with family. As I heard this mangrove forest is the second largest in the world after the Sunarbans in West Bengal. Entry and parking fee is Rs.50 while boat charges are different according to the seating capacity and divided into category of row boat and motor boat. If you really... More

We visited the Pichavaram Mangroves while visiting Pondicherry. Boats include one that takes visitors through the mangrove to a secluded beach and back. We couldn't avail the same because of time constraints. Hence will advice everyone to visit early morning. The other include a motor boat that takes you around the mangrove and asks for INR 200 extra for going... More
