Anjue Temple was a pleasant surprise in the city of Kangding. We visited it early in the morning, there were no tourists, the temple was clan and nice and a lonely monk was chanting his morning mantra, oblivious to our presence and seemingly far away the 21st century outside the walls. We listened to him for 10-15 minutes, trying to absorb the sound of his voice, his bell and hand-drum, the smell of the incents and the images painted on the walls and the surrounding thangkas, then got up, stepped out and found ourselves in the middle of the noise and the crowed of the city ...
