The entrance ticket is 200 rmb/per person. A shuttle bus will take on the top of the mountain next to the lake. We took hats and scarves in October in case of the cold weather, but we needed sunglasses and caps because the sunshine was pretty strong (and the wind was cool). Leave some power to get off the bus on some stations on your back way because you will find the great scenery there as well. It's one of the most beautiful place I have ever visited in my life!

If you are in Kanding city in Sichuan, you must visit Mugecuo Scenic Resort once, and probably twice (e.g. we were here 2 days, starting in Kanding every morning and returning back for a lunch and dinner). If you do not know chinese, it can be difficult to find a cheap way to get there, but you can easily find a taxi driver who will agree to go to Mugecuo resort, wait for you near the entrance and bring you back to Kanding for about 200-300 RMB (≈30$).

From the entrance to the National Park you have to take eco bus, which will bring you till Mugecuo Lake shore. Now you are almost free and can go everywhere you want. You can find shops, boat station, WC near bus stop. But the further you go, the more untouched nature you see.

After your walk near Mugeuo lake you can take the bus going down or go down by foot. There`s very beautiful river with a lot of small waterfalls and a couple of lakes on the way down. Almost everywhere you step on wooden stairs, so it`s safe and comfortable.

The way down is long, so possibly it`s better to take a going down bus after Seven Colours Lake.

A long way from Chengdu, our entry point into China for this trip - took us almost 9 hours of coach ride to Kangding, on Highway 318 because of accidents, construction works and heavy traffic. After a good night rest in Kangding, required another hour to reach the Mugecuo Scenic Area. The outstanding treat for the eyes at all its scenic spots made our long journey there just about worthwhile, and without any regrets.

Too bad they don't have an English spoken guide and area map. Go up with the bus and go down walking is the best choice for us, since the scenic area quite big. We spent 3.5 hours inside.

Tourist were not many as compared to other scenery resort. Lucky to view the full appearance of the Lotus mountains from the seven color lake. Ate the tasty soft boil egg by the spring water. Yellowish pine trees shows the color of autumn. Wonderful memory!

its a high altitude lake alright, but its been developed as a holiday camp not a nature preserve. Hence oversized visitor centre, shuttle buses, restaurants and speedboats polluting the lake visually, aurally and dieselly. Note the considerable entrance fee does not go into litter clearing (all the bins are overflowing, some into the lake) or repairing the badly made footpath. Such a pity to see that pristine nature has been trashed. On balance it will probably get worse so you better go soon

We drove (about 40 minutes) to this spot from Kangding. Nice new building as we entered. Unfortunately no information in English. It was fairly expensive for a park, 195 RMB each, but turned out to be good value. There is a bus that takes you all the way up into the mountains to the lake at the top. Roads are being rebuilt, so easy to see where the money is going. Very clean and great views, and although we had 100% rain forecast, we got good clear spells and even sun!
We started bussing back, then got off to walk down. That was a good idea, a lovely well-maintained walkway along the rushing water and waterfalls. Halfway there is a hot springs area (35 RMB), and that was also worth the money, piping hot water, then a warm spring with flesh eating fish, a real treat
Planned to spend two hours but ended up well over 3 hours there

Really beautiful site and really worth the long bus journey to get here. Only 3 great location to see inside the resort and highly recommend to take a slow walk on the way back. Alone the river down stream you get to see many beautiful spots.

Mugecuo is one of the largest mountain lakes of northeast Sichuan. Gold Coast, Sevencolor sea, it is 3200 meters above sea level, Gallery road and red rock are worth to visit.

An hour or so from Kangding and then on the park bus it was a beautiful place, even in the rain. Would have loved to spend a full day here instead of just a couple of hours.

Really enjoyed the hot springs and the fish who cleaned our feet of dead skin.
