Turquoise water covering fast, there is current. The concentration of salt in the skin is noticeable and rubber shoes are needed to reach the shore without pain and bathe safely. Better with sunbed than towel. The sun visor doesn't stick if it's not somewhere with more sand. If these factors do not cause discomfort the water is turquoise, warm and very clean. However I do not recommend it for people with compromised mobility

What a very nice clean modern resort Albir is. My wife and I booked a last minute apartment at this lovely resort. So many wonderful restaurants to choose from. This was our first time in Albir and it won't be our last. Everywhere is so clean and well attended to. The promenade was lovely and we walked as far as Altea . Albir also has a very good market which we visited. So pleased we booked this lovely resort. Would highly recommend as walking is so easy as the town is relatively flat. We will return

El Albir is a lovely beach with a beautiful boardwalk. You can walk all the way to the nearby beach of Altea, which is a half hour away. There are recliner chairs and beach umbrellas for rent on the beach. The beach itself has stones, so be sure to come with proper footwear. You can also find many restaurants and bars along the beach and all over town.

Absolutely beautiful beach with loads of loungers to hire. Gorgeous view and plenty of activities if you wish, including paddle board or pedalo hire.
It's a pebble beach though so pick up a pair of swim shoes with rubber soles to really make the most of it. It can be uncomfortable to walk on and while swimming but with the shoes on you'll have no issues. Well worth the 10 euros we spent in the local Chino Baazar. ;-)

First time visiting this place and enjoyed it.
Lovely sea you could be in the Caribean the water is that clear. Nice promenade and plenty of decent bars.
Perfect for a couple of hours visit and would return .

A stoney beach with the odd bit of sand. The sea is quite clean and very clear in places making swimming inviting.
A good selection of bars and restaurants that seem to be of a high standard a stone's throw from the beach. We'll be back

My family & I were on our annual holiday in Benidorm & visited Albir for the 1st time.
After getting a taxi to Altea & exploring everything that is on offer there (I've done a separate review) we walked along the coastal road to Albir. It took about 20-25mins with a 7 & 10 yr old in tow. Well worth doing if able, the walk is just beautiful, so many photo opportunities along the way, passing the marina then getting to Albir.
It has a lovely white marble promenade with shops & bars along the way & a pebble beach which was very busy in the hot August heat.
We made the mistake of visiting on a Sunday as many of the shops were closed, but it was still a lovely place to visit & would return again, but definitely on a weekday!
Highly recommend.😊😊

Albir is one of the most peaceful, beautiful places I have been in Europe. The beach front is really beautiful and the town has lots of hidden gems of restaurants and nice bars. I love albir my home away from home.

This beach has beautiful pebbles which get smaller the closer you get to the sea. Both sized pebbles are very clean and comfortable to lie on, though the older generation did have chairs/sunbeds to sit on as well.
As you look out to the horizon on the left hand side, your gaze extends through the middle distance to Calpe and it's famous rock; and to the right, you can just spot the lighthouse, of which it take about an hour or less to walk - sincerely recommend it! There is a pathway that has been specially made so everyone can walk on it - wheelchair and pram friendly.
This beach was definitely not crowded at this time of year (Late October - early November), and it was 23 degrees with glorious sunshine and blue sky, most days.
The mountains to the left are a pretty back drop for Altea, which is famous for it's church which takes about just over an hour to walk to (normal pace). The tourist way is up quite a few steps, so could be tricky for prams and wheelchairs, however there is a main road to get you there also.
At the top here where the church is, a fantastic view stretches back down and all across Albir, and of course you are much closer to Calpe at this point. There are bars and restaurants at the top and on the way to the top.
Back in Albir, an easy to walk on promenade runs along the seafront and seems very clean considering how many pet dogs there are. There are also lots of benches to sit and take it all in, along the promenade.
The beach has toilets which is handy, and on the other side of the promenade, there are shops and bars, and lots of connecting side roads that pretty much will lead you back out on to the main strip of the town.
If you're a swimmer and its too cold to spend an hour or so training in the sea, there is a small spa with an indoor swimming pool (the only one is Abir I think), called Albir Spa. It is quite hard to find, and you walk through some gates as though you are going into an apartment complex - which you are really. It is sign posted Albir Spa, so persevere, and you'll find it. Someone will always point you in the right direction, Check the opening times of this pool too. It close at 2pm and re opened at 4pm on the day I went.
Many people in the bars and restaurants speak English, and it's good to try out your Spanish too.
Lots of people from the Netherlands inhabit this part of Spain.
At night, I felt safe enough to go back down to the beach and record the waves and take photos of the sea at night in the dark, and to get my pen and notebook out to start writing. At 1.30am, the street lights are still on, lighting parts of the beach, so it's light enough to feel safe, and dark and moody enough to feel inspired!

Does anyone have any recimendations for new years eve in albir please
Written November 12, 2018
can anyone recommend a good place to stay in which is close to the beach but nothing too pricey? don't mind 3 star hotels, thanks :)
Written July 9, 2018
Would not recommend Rober Palas, despite it's great location (5 minute walk to beach). Hotel Kaktus looks great, but have found their prices can be quite high.
