Like with all museums this is great for a rainy day. If the weather is good then check this out and when you come out turn left and a 15 min walk along the road will get you to the entrance of Nanhu or south lake.
The museum has very little written in English but it is easy to follow around and the displays are easy enough to understand. The building itself is an impressive piece of architecture.
Staff were extremely friendly to me, checking my bags, temperature and asking for me to wear a mask. I had no issues taking photos inside and like most places I visit in Jiaxing staff always greet you when you are walking around. I saw 2 other people in the museum during my hour in there so not super busy on a weekday morning.
There were no interactive displays, it was all static behind glass items so may not be suitable for kids who get bored easily. It took me an hour and that included photo time, there were several rooms closed probably for new displays.
Entrance was free.

If you are in Jiaxing for more than a few days, it might be nice if you enjoy history. The museum is fairly pleasant, better than may city museum in China.

The museum is very well kept and presents the history of the city Jiaxing. You will find out about early housing, the development of agriculture, trade relations and the silk industry.

Worth visiting but limited English information. Perhaps improved since my visit. I’ll probably go back again to see.

If you love history or are interested in the history of Jiaxing, then this the place for you. It is clear a lot of work has gone into this museum and they are proud of their agricultural history.
