About
Charlecote Mill is the last working water mill in Warwickshire and still operates commercially producing stoneground flours. The mill opens to the public on the second Sunday of the month and bank holidays throughout the summer from 11.00Am to 5.00Pm. Occasionally the open days are joined by local bakers and teas and home made cakes are always on offer. This is a very rare example of a fully working mill and well worth the visit.

- Tcwarwickshire5 contributionsThoroughly enjoyed our tour of this living piece of history. This process of milling was expertly explained by our tour guide. The building is a delight, but not for small children or those who struggle with stairs as some are very steep. Loved our morning spent at the mill and can’t wait to use the flour we purchased, knowing how skilfully it was produced. Thank you Karl and team for letting us have a look around your daily place of work.Visited May 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten May 27, 2024
- Charlotte C3 contributionsCame on a bit of a whim expecting to just have a brief look around with this being a working mill but was very pleasantly surprised! The mill is in a beautiful setting with friendly and informative staff. We were shown around in a small group by a lovely guide and my daughter was able to do a trail to win some sweets which went down very well! It was great to see the mill working and we bought some flour at the end which has made some very lovely cakes since.Visited June 2024Traveled with familyWritten June 22, 2024
- Jane C10 contributionsWe went on the very best tour with Adrian this afternoon (October 13th 2024). He was so knowledgable, inclusive and made everything so interesting. One of the best tours like this we have ever been on. And at the end - tea and cake and lovely flour to buy. A perfect afternoon and highly recommended. We had an amazing visit today. I can highly recommend visiting on one of the open days held throughout the year. Our tour was very thorough covering the history of the mill, the renovations needed and the current running of the mill. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the mechanical workings of the mill and brilliant at explaining things to the children at their level. The children were allowed to help send the grain up to the top of the mill which they loved. My only word of caution is the steps to the top level are very steep so I would be wary taking very young children primary school age upwards would be fine.

We’ve been to mills before, and although they have always been interesting, it would be more accurate to describe them as museums. Charlecote Mill is different. It is a working mill which has been in existence for about 270 years. Our guide yesterday was Adrian. He was very enthusiastic and informative. There were several young children in the same tour group, and they were also fascinated by the whole process. We live quite near the mill and it is definitely somewhere that we will look forward to bringing family and friends.

Fascinating visit to this fully working mill. We're fairly local but have never been before. Well worth a visit on an open day like today when you can have a guided tour. John our guide was excellent. Very knowledge and very hands-on. Karl and his guides were really welcoming. I love historic buildings and crafts so it was wonderful to see all the hard work Karl and his team put in to keep the mill alive. Try Adrian's cakes too. The chocolate with his homemade jam filling was seriously good 👍. I bought some 'real' flour for bread baking. Keep up the good work Karl. I'll be back 😁.

Brilliant afternoon, we had been visiting the Charlecote house and park nearby, they had a sign out to say that the mill was having an open day. There was about an hour before the last tour. We loved it, all of the staff and volunteers were so knowledgeable and helpful. I am a wheelchair user as I have bad leg pain, I managed to get to the first floor with a couple of heartstop moments, this was my right side is my good side and the handrail was on the left. I really enjoyed learning all about the milling process and how the equipment works. Very interesting.
They did explain what goes on in the top floor to me as well which was helpful as I couldn't get up there. Thankfully getting back down the stairs was much easier, I just took my time.
The mill are trying to sort out a digital tour for my fellow disabled people who can't manage the stairs but at present they don't know when that will be completed. The footage has been done but now the editing needs to get sorted.
It is open tomorrow Sunday 8th May 2022 too. It was £5 each and I thought that was very reasonable. We also bought some flour, bread, made with the Mills flour and some local honey.

What a gem! We live locally but hadn’t appreciated how special this mill was until we visited on an open day.
The guides were really passionate and knowledgeable. Very friendly and helpful.
Refreshments were available after the tour for a donation which was a lovely touch.
Whether local or visiting the area on holiday this is a wonderful place to visit and support.

Delightful tour of Charlcote mill, with a very good guide.Followed by delicious tea and cakes.
A working mill so you can only visit on a designated open day.Usually on a Sunday.
Not suitable for small children or disabled,as two very very steep stairs .Almost ladders.
But so worth it,living history, that will hopefully live another 300 years.

After a 2 year hiatus due to COVID I'm so pleased to finally be able to visit Charlecote Mill agin. This is one of my favourite places in the world to visit.
So Greta to take the kids as they just don't remember it, it's been so long.
Visitor information:
Only open on certain days through the year for visits so check the website or Facebook for details.
Open all year round for yummy scummy flour though.

Amazing OPEN DAY at Charlecote Mill. A unique place which really is unchanged for centuries. Our guide (the miller’s dad!) gave us a fascinating tour of the building and showed us how everything worked. We left with a huge 12kg bag of bread flour which will keep us baking happily for a couple of months! This is unusual in that it really is a working mill, not just a museum. All the wheat is grown les than 3 miles away and all the flour is sold locally. Two Michelin starred restaurants use this flour too! There were also totally delicious cakes for visitors provided with the cup of tea. All in all an amazing place to visit and simply step back in time.
