This is unbeilable place for sightseeing. The road is ok after leaving from main road up to first top near Tel'e sieges. After Tel'e sieges station it is a little bit tough. But you should drive till you reach the lake. You could find obsidian...More

Its 20 k from tatvan to the crater lakes, a little too much for a hike unless you are staying at the nemrut kardelen hotel about halfway up. A two way taxi should cost around 120 tl inc waiting time. The lakes are enjoyable, lots...More

Three beautiful freshwater lakes make the crater an exciting are, full of life. Birds, forests, green pastures, a lovely sight in a breathtakingly prosaic setting with the crater rim all around. A truly must-see!

A driving challenge in a windy crater of a polygenic stratovolcano on the edges of Lake Van descending spiral reminiscent of a surface copper mine. The road can be bad and a 4x4 suv may be useful but still. There are climbing, trekking, observational and...More

i wouldnt do it as a day trip from van though its possible. tatvan is a far more logical base and there are some other nearby sights like ahlat. a regular car should be able to make it though with some suffering.
