I think it's important to state at the beginning of this review that my husband and I visited the Saltees during the current heatwave in Ireland (June 24th). Naturally the good weather made all the difference and enhance our visit enormously. So, try if possible...More

Hey Smart, Personally I think it's not a good time. Likely to be cold & poor weather and, most importantly, the birds won't be nesting that time of year. I would think it picks up a bit in end May/June. I wouldn't go there... More

Great trip. No hurries, no worries (4 Replies)
Just got back from our trip and it was wonderful. We saw castles, stone circles, gardens, abbeys, gorgeous scenery, seals galore going to the Saltee Islands and Garnish Island, lighthouses, the walled towns of Kilkenny, Clonmel, Fethard, Cashel, Wexford, and Waterford. We shopped in the recently opened new Waterford Crystal factory along with many other stores. Out of our 13 days we only had 2 not so good meals, but overall we ate very well. We heard some very good music, especially done by...More

Hello tapldude. Yes, I know about Glendalough and Laragh. Thanks for the restaurant suggestion, we will definitely check it out. Wicklow town made the list because we will be visiting the lighthouse. Also, we did visit the Hook peninsula and you are right, it is a great place to visit with beautiful scenery. This will be our sixth trip, but we will never tire of visiting Ireland. Someday we will actually get to Dublin. Thanks for the advice, "spot on" as always.
