I was visiting NT to spend our anniversary with my husband, who works there most of the year. We spent about 2 hours driving out to the springs from Palmerston, and sighted two wedge tail eagles on the way, one was dining on a wallaby...More

Not packed with tourists, possibly due to our time of travel. Check the water before letting your children in "It is HOT", Respect the area, it borders a "sacred site" (Everywhere should be treated with respect)

The only reason to avoid the Douglas-Daly Hot Springs is if you are not up for the 7km of red dust and corrugated road on the way in. The free camp there is very popular. The springs are very natural. No need for noodles here....More

So, I read all these reviews and they all said 2WD would be fine. I’m not so sure. There was a 7 km dirt road, which was very corrugated. This may have been because it is the end of the dry season, so the road...More

Has been more then 20 years since I have been to the Hot Springs and was a delight to be back. Easy to find space to sit and relax in the water that would change from warm to cool in temperature, and by exploring the...More

The photos on the nth website are mostly of the cold river which runs parallel to the small creek which is about 50 meters long and is about 100to150 mm deep. The sand is very course and you need footwear to transverse.Camp ground was noisy...More

This is definately worth a visit. Lots of different temperatures of water that range from cold, luke warm to boiling hot. Campground very average though and no shade.

The Hot Springs themselves are quite nice but don't even think about about camping there. Imagine a cross between Dante's "Inferno" and "Apocalypse Now." The camping culture is absolutely broken and National Parks don't seem to be doing anything to rectify it. No envelopes were...More

I can see no reason why you could not take a quad bike. There is a dirt road to the springs and a dirt track to the local river camp sites. I would probably ring the owners however, they are lovely helpful people.

The last 7kms are unsealed but the road is in fair condition. There is also a part where you dip and drive through a few inches of water.
