Staying at Camping Milfontes. Easy walk to beach or town, lots of snack bars restaurants, supermarkets. Beautiful views of the sandy beaches and walks.

Rough cliffs and storcks nests even in january. A trip worth doing, walk along above the cliffs but watch out on the edge!

This is a spectacular place. The Atlantic waves roll into the bays around the headland, creating wild wavescapes. In the spring and early summer storks nest on the tower-like cliffs, easily visible from the cliff tops. If you choose to just check out Cabo Sardão, with its storks, a short walk from the car park on good paths, it will take you around an hour. However there is also a lighthouse on the cape and good footpaths leading both south and north from this cape if you have more time. Winds blowing in from the Atlantic tend to be fairly cool so it is good to have some extra clothing with you, even on a hot day.

You have got to seek this place out for four reasons. Firstly the cape itself with its rugged cliffs and coves. Secondly the lighthouse. Thirdly the all-pervasive sweet scent in the air which I believe was eucalyptus - this was possibly the sweetest smelling natural environment I've ever experienced. Fourthly, probably the most strangely located football pitch I've ever seen. It's right next to the lighthouse, boasts not a blade of grass, is clearly in use with home and away benches/huts and mesh to prevent the ball from heading towards the States. But all this begs the question, where do the players come from ? Anyway it's all great and there's free parking and plenty of clearly marked paths to wander around. As others have said be careful though.
