Tuesday 6th February and we drove from Morro Jable to the remote Playa de Cofete which is located in the Natural Park.
The twenty kilometre route took us through the stunning mountainous terrain and landscape on Jandía Park.
The sense of adventure of the journey, which took about an hour, was heightened as we drove along a winding, unsurfaced and uneven track, leaving us feeling shaken rather stirred.
We did make a stop at the viewpoint, Mirador Cofete, to appeciate the stunning views along the thirteen kilometres of Cofete beach and the mountainous scenery of Jandía Natural Park, rather breathtaking.
Taking a turn at a fork in the track eventually leads to Puerto de la Cruz, at the foot of the Pájara peninsula. We did not venture there, did not think the car or our bodies would make it.

Wednesday 11th November and we drove the 100 or so kilometres from our hotel, Riu Palace Tres Islas to the outskirts of the Park.
From there we drove 18 kilometres more along a twisty, undulating and unsurfaced road, that it's own right was an experience. This took us through some incredible scenery, mountainous terrain and colourful rock formations.
We ended up at the most south western tip of the Park, where the road came to an end and is where the Faro de Jandia is located along the rugged coastline. It is a working Lighthouse, but not open to the public, however it was possible to walk around the outside an explore the rugged coast.
We also drove an additional 8 kilometres, from the Cofete junction, to the western side of the Park to visit the village of Cofete, enjoying the amazing scenery on the way. Once there we walked along a small part of the stunning beach of Cofete and visited the small and rather unique beach cemetery of Cofete.
Amazing experience.

Now on our 3rd stay in Morro Jable, & driven around the area on many of the unmade roads, we would highly recommended a visit to this area
The best thing is the beaches.
From the east coast you have Sotavento, plus Esquinzo & Butihondo, plus Salana Mattoral running into Morro Jable.
Then round to Playa de Cofete, to name a few.
The next best thing is the views, while driving around, walking or hiking, there are some stunning sights.
Plus don't forget the bars & restaurants in Morro Jable, lets hope they get more peeps in soon, to help them survive.

Loved this beach!! Bit of a drive from Costa caletta but well worth it. You can walk for miles along golden sand. The sea is fairly calm and perfect for swimming. One if the best beaches I’ve ever been to. It is frequented by nudists so be prepared!! A must see for anyone visiting Fuerteventura

Jandia is a wild parque. There is just one local road. You have to drive very slowly. On the other side if you are patient, you will see the best beach at Fuerteventura. Coffete beach is a long long beach on west coast. Probably you will be there alone so you can enjoy surfing, sunbathing, kiting.. Next to the beach are big mountains. You lay on the sand and see the vertical walls, you know that nature has much more power then you! The parque is separetely from civilization, be sure you have enough water, food, benzin...

Never done one of these before but thought I'd give it a go to see the wild west coast of Fuerteventura and the very southern tip. Collected at 9.30 am and return to hotel 4.30pm so great value for money. Eleven Jeeps in convey driving over to Cofete (amazing views) then a beach stop for swimming. Then it's off to the lighthouse at the southernmost tip of Fuerteventura and finally a decent lunch at a little restaurant. Would thoroughly recommend a trip like this but expect to return rather dusty and tired....although it wasn't nearly such an uncomfortable ride as I had expected.

The Saladar (salt marsh) de Jandia is a protected site of scientific interest and is partially flooded at high tides thus getting water to sustain the area. It is home to a number of birds, lizards and most visible are the donkeys that roam freely and the ground squirrel which is regarded as an unwanted pest. A rare area of natural greenery which is very pleasant to see.

We walked from the FV2 road towards the west coast, and continued for around 5 hours. The area is beautiful and unspoiled. The views of the West Coast are brethtaking.

A nice walk on the boardwalk to the lighthouse with plenty of chipmonks close by. A short walk then to the sea

We had a balcony that overlooked this area and were fortunate to experience a high tide when sea water floods the area attracting lots of birds in to the area

Hiya, I am visiting in Feb and struggling to find any info online about Parque Natural de Jandía. Is it a case of once you are there it is easier? I am interested in walking trails in particular. Ones that take in the wildlife and landscape. Thanks
