We picked Orakei Korako based on reviews and recommendations through friends. It was an interesting experience and given it was a cloudy day and off season we were almost on our own, which made it even more special. The circular route is well signed and...More

Nice attraction that we had nearly to ourselves. Good circular route through the thermal park with boardwalks, horticultural signs and stairs as needed. Requires a boat ride across the lake to get to. Staff was helpful and provided free WiFi (important for those of us...More

Thank you for your comment, we are glad you enjoyed your visit. It is difficult to compare the world renowned Yellowstone National Park. Yellowstone covers 8,983km2 whereas Orakei Korako is only 0.38km2 but has an example of just about every geothermal activity including a geothermal...More

It was wonderful to revisit Orakei Korako after more than 50 years, the last being before the dam was built. The site has retained the peace and serenity whilst having well maintained paths and informative signage. The staff were very helpful and charming. A glass...More

This park took us 70 minutes to see and was absolutely stunning! We also went to waiotapu and in all honesty, I wouldn't even be able to compare the two. I'm happy we saw both as they are just so different. This one has the...More

Really relaxing and a beautiful geothermal valley not far from Taupo. While this could be an amazing experience, seeing the colours and blue waters of the lake, this may not be a suitable place for elderly to visit because of steep steps.

This place is incredibly beautiful. You'll see in an hour to 90 mins what it would take you days to see in Rotorua. The colours are beyond belief! All this and a boat ride across the lake too. Great value and an excellent coffee too😊
