The Elephant Sanctuary has African elephants and offers an interactive elephant experience, elephant back riding and overnight accommodation. We offer hands-on educational elephant interactions. This provides our guests with a far more intimate experience with the elephants. Our dedicated staff is committed to the use of positive reinforcement elephant training methods and as a result we have relaxed elephants who enjoy interacting with our guests.Guests are guided on foot through The Elephant Sanctuary. Guides will provide in-depth information and insight into African Elephants. You will be introduced to our elephants in the forest area, and here you will be able to touch and interact with the elephants. You will see the special relationship that the elephant handlers share with their elephants and become a part of it. Walk trunk-in-hand with the elephants. See the stables where the elephants sleep at night. Guests learn about elephant anatomy and are able to feed them. Remember to wear flat walking shoes, sun hats and bring your camera. The 08h00 Elephant Experience includes brushing the elephants down.Open 7 days a week, at 08h00; 10h00 and 14h00.

A magical place to interact with the elephants. It is a bit expensive but as a treat for someone who loves elephants it was an amazing experience to be able to touch and ride an elephant. The experience was fantastic.

A must to visit for animal lovers! You can feed, touch, kiss, walk with the elephants and ride them. Very nice place to interact with these wonderful creatures! you also get a visit to the monkey sanctuary which is really lovely for monkey lovers! Wonderful guides who shared their knowledge about these magnificent animals. Their care for the elephants was evident as we toured the facility and interacted with the gentle giants. From hand feeding to an up close and personal encounter (don't miss out on getting a kiss) to walking hand in trunk, we thoroughly enjoyed the Elephant Sanctuary. We also purchased tickets... More

Very interesting elephant tour. Tour guides are friendly and are very knowledgeable of their topic. Guides does effort to ensure you get maximum exposure. If you have not walked an elephant or ridden one, this is your chance.

I visited the Elephant Sanctuary in Hartbeespoort Dam and stayed over. The facilities were 5 star and the breakfast was excellent. The experience of riding and interacting with the elephants will remain with me for the rest of my life. Hats off to the staff who went out of their way to make our stay awesome!

With R695.00 per adult it was definitely overpriced. Only 5 elephants were there. They showed only the feeding n interacted with the animals. But if 4 of u r thr in a group. Plan for Kruger instead, u will just hv to add some more money n u will b able to see the wild ones roam free.

I was vey impressed with everything about The Elephant Sanctuary, from the welcome centre to the guides and handlers to the amazing animals. One can see that the owners have invested a lot of money into this beautiful facility. Our guide Charles was a wealth of knowledge and kept us entertained. The elephants were amazing and it was a unique... More

I get why people want to go on Safaris now. I'm South African, and contrary to popular belief I don't have a lion in my backyard. In fact I haven't been to many rural or "the Bundu's" much in my life. I only know an elephant from seeing it at the zoo. This was one of the most heart felt... More
