The highlight is the old historical building with a large pond in front. The view is quite nice. You can only go into the building by guided tour (every hour). As this place turned into a place where the citizens rest, there is a mini...More

It's a very large garden, that I would say gives a vibe closer to that of a park, in Japanese terms. It has some cafes, nice walking trails and some activities for kids like an old train car on display. I visited in November and...More

We were really excited to visit and had expected to see a well kept zoo with contented animals. Alas, this zoo was not well maintained, the exhibits appeared haphazard and the animals were starving. They did not appear happy and had their ribs showing. It...More

Rakuju-en Garden is very pleasant, although it could use more upkeep. Listed in "Hidden Gardens of Japan" THE photo essay and reference for finding unspoiled gardens in Japan minus the tour bus mobs available on Amazon US and Amazon Japan

We enjoyed the quiet park located just opposite the Mishima Railway station. It had a fine range of vegetation, museum, zoo, fun mirrors, snack bar,. There was an antique steam engine and pony rides for the kids

The most fascinating aspect of this park was the dry pond. Apparently these days the pond is often empty, but this allows one to see the various volcanic rocks that would otherwise be submerged. The structure on stilts over the pond's edge looked interesting from...More

We stumbled across the park by accident on the way to Fujinomiya. We were so glad that we got off the train at Mishima! Many of the plants are labelled with scientific names as well as Japanese names. The scenery is spectacular. There are shrines...More

A scenic park in the city; many trees are labeled with Japanese and with English names. Bring binoculars to spot birds. Woodpeckers are there but I was unable to see them to identify. There is also a small amusement park for kids, and a cafe,...More

I think it is no problem (as long as you keep the park clean ;-) There is a small restaurant inside the park as well, at the station entrance
