Mt Fuji Satoyama Village Cycling Ecotour (Mar-Nov)

The tour starts with a slow and easy mountain-bike ride down to the majestic Shiraito Falls. At Shiraito falls, briefly explore the pool at the bottom of the waterfalls, and take photos with the breathtaking waterfalls as your backdrop.

As you cycle to the village, delight in the scenic views of the rural landscapes and rice fields with Mt. Fuji in the background. Experience a glimpse of the locals’ daily lives as you try some bread from the village bakery, and visit some historical spots around the village.

For lunch, stop at a local Soba (buckwheat noodles) restaurant where you can feast upon hand-made noodles with finely-battered tempura and locally grown vegetables. As you relax and enjoy your meal, you can also have a friendly chat with the local grandmother.

The tour ends with a visit to a local sake brewery, where you can learn about the sake-making process from an 18th generation owner. Listen to him share his personal family stories, and try different types of sake.

Fujinomiya city is really close to Mt Fuji and has great views of the mountain - without the crowds. The ecotours are fantastic and what makes them are the local guides - super friendly and engaging. They genuinely care about their town and showing visitors the great aspects. It's a great spot to visit if you have a JR rail pass - as the tours start and end at Shin Fuji station - a bullet train stop between Tokyo and Kyoto. The ecotours cover food, culture and for those more active, hiking and biking. They are constantly looking forward and adding new things to the city. If you can - visit when they have a festival on! I contacted them through mtfujiecotours.com and they couldn't have been friendlier.

This tour was disappointing. On meeting us at the station the guide told us tour would be shortened as Mt Fuji couldn’t be seen and he had another appointment. We could understand about missing the mountain, due to cloud cover, but not taking us to the shrine because of an appointment was unacceptable. The Heritage Centre was well worth the visit and we were given a discount because of shortened tour. We feel we should have at least been emailed prior to the tour to see if we were happy the tour was to be shortened, with one listed attraction missed. He also did not appear happy when we asked to have a quick look at the centre souvenir shop, even though we were still within the given time- frame.

I am truly sorry that this kind of thing happens.  We have received this taxi tour as English service subcontractor of tourism div. fujinomiya city and the taxi company is the operator. I told the taxi company about this happen as we have accepted your booking request. They said that they were sorry for making you feel uncomfortable and will not happen again. We will do our best to improve the great service for our guests as a team Fujinomiya. I recommend this tour with all my heart. It was the most fun my girlfriend and I had in our two weeks in Japan. Spend the money and you will have ZERO regrets, I promise. You will learn about history, culture, geography, geology, and feel more connected to Japan. You will fall in love with Fuji-San Our smart and kind tour guide, Bun-Chan, started out the day at the spiritual Shiraito waterfalls. She taught us so much about the geology, history, and culture of the waterfalls. After that, we took a breathtaking bike ride along the rice paddies of the villages. We rode past rushing water, temples, streams. I almost teared up with joy when I took a picture of Mt. Fuji behind the gorgeous reflection in the rice field. Bun-Chan is a great photographer and she got me my new profile picture! Lunch was delicious! Our day was spectacular. Stop reading this review and book.

Our tour was perfect: shopping in the village, visiting the shrine, eating local specialties, drive up Mt. Fuji and hiking to one of its craters, visiting waterfalls, meeting with locals (including a cute shiba inu!), going on a bike tour around the rice fields and seeing local curiosities up close, visiting a sake factory that’s been there for over 100 years... We are so lucky to have experienced the heart of life around and up Mt. Fuji. It was a feast for the mind, the senses and the soul. To hike in the forest on one of its flanks, to taste its food, water and sake, to get a feeling for its spiritual weight and utter magnetism, to see it from different sides and see it change aspect and colour through the day is something we’ll carry with us forever. This tour company corresponded with our values and our respect for nature - we wouldn’t have it any other way. Mari is an amazing guide who readily shared her extensive knowledge about local history and Japanese culture and customs. Definitely recommended.

My spouse and I organized a 2 week trip across Japan, but booking a tour in Fujinomiya with En-Ya, was by far the best idea we've had. Getting to meet and interact with locals and share about our cultural backgrounds is an essential ingredient of making a trip absolutely memorable. Unlike other tours we've experienced, we really felt welcomed and the staff took the time to get to know us and connect at a whole new level, and all of this, in a breathtaking scenery that is unmistakably Japan. We will remember our trip to Japan for a long long time, thanks to the people at En-Ya. I can't recommend it enough.
