茨城県石岡市の市民会館前にある江戸時代の陣屋門です。江戸時代の府中松平藩の役所だそうです。
立派な門構えは、昔の格式を感じさせます。

移築された江戸時代の門

常陸国総社宮の北側にある石岡小学校は江戸時代には陣屋だったそうで、その門が現存しています。現在は小学校の隣の市民会館の前に移築されています。屋根にしゃちほこがある立派な門でした。

形の良い陣屋門

JR石岡駅から徒歩10分のところにあります。8月に常陸国総社宮に向かう途中に立ち寄りました。この門は、江戸時代中期から幕末まで、おおよそ170年間にわたってこの地を治めた府中松平家（水戸徳川家の分家）の陣屋の表門とのことです。現存しているこの門は1828年に建設されたもので鏡柱と控柱との間に切妻屋根をのせる「高麗門」で茨城県指定建造物となっています。形の良い門です。詳細な説明は、看板がありますので興味がある方は参照してください。

街自体は駅前だけでなく結構広い。

御三家・水戸藩のお役所だったとのこと。町は、タクシーで走った感じからも駅前だけでなく結構広い。寺院関係が多い。駅近辺に最近の殺人事件でニュースになった犯人が自首した交番があった。

陣屋にあった門

石岡駅から徒歩１０分位に場所にある陣屋門です。陣屋にいくつかあった門のうち、
表門にあたり、文政１１年に建築された物です。石岡を歩いていると、ここだけ
門があり、ちょっと違和感がありますが、歴史の一部をとして観光にはよいかと
思います。
