Good access & parking to a comfortable theatre with nice bar/cafe. Lift and wheelchair/ carer spaces in the theatre.

We went to see our granddaughters in the school show of Bugsy Malone. The show was put on by Crispins school which is in Street (adjacent to Glastonbury).
The show was excellent and the theatre facilities are very good.

I have been going to the Strode theatre for many years now. It is a theatre which provides cinema, live theatre and the odd local exhibition. Now of course we have ‘Live on Screen,’ direct from the
West End. Very recently I saw the brilliant ‘Hangman’ here, for a quarter of the price that I paid at the Wyndham’s Theatre in London some months earlier!
The main theatre holds some 340 punters with stalls & balcony areas. There is also a small studio cinema upstairs which holds another 60 punters. The films are split between the two. The Strode has a reputation for showing arthouse films as well as the usual blockbusters, although the latter are usually some way behind the multiplex showings … but they will get there eventually!
The building is modern but rather bland and uninspiring (IMHO), it is though light and comfortable. It has a nice bar area with a good number of seats & tables. The prices (unlike most theatres) are very reasonable with a good selection of drinks. Entrance prices are very reasonable & affordable too.
The staff are very friendly and accommodating, from the reception to Barry & his crew in the bar.
The theatre also has numerous courteous and well drilled volunteers to guide you to your seat should you look a little lost or dare pause for a breather, and if you’re not offered a ‘synopsis sheet’ at least three or four times then that would be very unusual!
My only minor gripe would be that there are too few entertaining live acts at the theatre when compared to the Octagon at Yeovil, the Playhouse at Weston or even the Memorial at Frome? I assume it’s because of the smaller capacity size and lack of affordability to coax them here?
Car parking is right beside the theatre. The Strode is a very well organized and friendly operation.

This is a small theatre with friendly, helpful staff. It offers a wide choice of topics but because of its size it sells out quickly so early booking is advised.
Has a compact bar area for refreshments before and after the shows.
Modern well kept venue.

This is an excellent place to attend films, theatre and ‘live streaming’ of major productions. I attended the production of La Traviata which was superb.

We are very fortunate as a local community to have this theatre that offers us an excellent selection of films . We receive a booklet that gives us the latest listings ,and a special price for OAPs . We also have a choice of the main theatre or the studio for many of the films. There is a bar for drinks ,tea coffee and a delicious selection of cakes..It is easy to book either by phone or on line.Well done Strode and thank you.
There is lifts to the theatre and studio for less able ,and areas suitable for wheel chairs.
