We knew there was a chance of seeing turtles but didn't quite believe it! However, we were delighted to see several turtles swimming alongside the harbour. Amazing! And the setting is so beautiful with the mountains in front! A highlight of our holiday.

Be sure to visit the harbour in the morning when the fishing boats are returning and you’ll see the turtles for sure. The harbour is bustling and a lovely place for lunch or just a cold beer. Kefalonia is such a beautiful island.

Lovely harbour and you can see lots of turtles bobbing about as you walk along. Lovely place to sit and have a drink and watch the boats, gets a wee bit busy if a very large cruise ship comes in though.

We arrived about 9.30am and most of the fishing boats were in, their catch on display. We bought calamari from the fish retailer and a beautiful Sea Bream from a boat, the latter costing €20. My advice would be to walk to the end of...More

The restaurants immediately alongside the harbour are the best places to eat here away from all of the tourist traps in the town plaza. Great beers and lovely food. Seemed to be where the locals ate. Staff were excellent both during the day and in...More

Great place to see the loggerhead turtles each morning, plenty of places to sit and relax and enjoy the views and have a coffee or something to eat. The fruit and fish markets nearby too. Then the town is just metres away ......
