Good stadium. Well organized. It is very close to the Metro station and easily walkable from there. It is also not too far from the city center. There is a direct Metro from Milan central train station Metro stop.

We went to watch Eurobasket at the Mediolanum Forum. It was very easy to get to from central Milan by metro and is only a short walk from the station. The venue was clean and food and drinks were available for purchase (you go to one queue to prepay, then collect your items from another counter). It was an excellent experience.

We went to here to see Bruno Mars and our overall impression was excellent.
We were based near the Duomo in Milan but it only took about 30 minutes to get there using the Metro - at a cost of only €2.50 each!
There are plenty of options in the Food Hall outside the Forum at really good prices - surprisingly cheap considering they have a "captive audience".
The one downside is the lack of signage and people outside directing you to the right place either to pick up your tickets or to gain entry into the building - it was mayhem.
Inside, the Forum is a great size for a concert - holding about 12,000 people, there isn't a bad seat in the house and the acoustics were excellent.
One confusing thing is when you buy food or drink inside - there are dedicated counters (marked Cassa) where you pay for your purchase before going to collect it at another counter. But very hygienic as staff are not handling both food and money!
Getting out of the Forum at the end was straightforward as was getting the Metro back into the city - but make sure you buy your return ticket when you arrive at the station in your way into the venue to avoid the queues!

I would like to warn anyone using the metro (M2-GREEN LINE) to reach the mediolanum forum to make absolutely sure that you purchase the correct ticket( extra urban @ 2.30€/ 2.50€) as they do not tell you thisa and apparently ASSAGO is outside of Milan but i assume usually before concerts there are always inspectors waiting to check your ticket as if they know many people( especially those who are from abroad) make a mistake unknowingly and purchase the wrong ticket therefore you are forced to pay a 36.50€ fine and they don't even listen to you. I think it is not fair especially because i was in possession of a valid ticket but i did not know that it was wrong and would have no problem paying for the correct ticket. Seems like they do this to make money off people at the perfect time.

Visited the arena for the Ice Skating WC. I don't have significant experience in similar venues, so I cannot really compare. The queues to enter the arena were quite long, but moved fast, so it was not really an issue. Toilets are definitely inadequate, huge lines to ladies' rooms, causing mixed lines to men's rooms as well. For one of the events we had the seats at the last line (14) of B sector (B3, but I think it is the same for all the sectors), unlike the lower lines this one is removed a bit farther from the one below it, resulting in having the view obstructed by the heads of spectators below. It is not something you can discover until you actually get there. On other events we had normal seats and the view was quite good.
The reason I am rating this 1 star is the metro access, specifically the ATM control on the metro gates. To reach the forum from Milano you need to buy a "cumulative ticket", however it is quite unclear and really easy to miss. As a result a lot of spectators arrive there with an urban ticket and cannot exit the station. ATM site says that in cases like that you can purchase an "adjustment ticket". These indeed can be bought for 5 euro just before exiting the station (probably the price of the farthest suburban zone). The problem is that ATM exploits events in the forum for raising huge amounts of money in fines. There is a constant control team of 10-20 officers gathering fines. They prevent you from buying the exit ticket. I was not able to find an open information whether they are allowed to do so, but it definitely looks like a trap. There is no effort whatsoever to prevent the "offence", but there is a constant effort to gain money from it.
Note that there is another major destination that is outside of the urban area - expositions center in Fieri, at the north end of the red line. When you buy an urban ticket, you get a full screen warning that the ticket is not valid for Fieri. Moreover this warning is printed on the ticket itself. I don't know for sure, but I suspect this warning was added sometimes before or after the Expo in Milano in 2015. I should be very easy to add Assago to that warning as well, just change the text. It might require some intervention on behalf of Mediolanum Forum management. So I rate this 1 star to encourage such intervention, and I urge anyone, who fell in that trap, to rate it accordingly.
P.S. Almost forgot the cherry on the top: the cumulative tickets are not available from the english menu of the vending machines. The category is simply not there. You have to switch to Italian to see it. Coincedence? I don't think so.

It's ok as a venue. Smaller more intimate than I'm used to. Drinks within the venue were cheaper than in the UK. Metro very close to the venue but be aware you will need to make sure you buy the correct ticket that includes an additional 2 euro fare to cover Assago. We didn't and were fined 36 Euros each :-(

To be avoided, if possible. Old and abandoned structure, super tiny seats and people's knees in your back, dirty.

We went to a concert in November. It was easy to reach the Forum. From Gioia Station, we took the metro to Assago and got off at the last station. From there, you can go directly to the Forum through an overpass. It takes 5 minutes. Forum' staff was nice and helpful in offering directions. We got our tickets in 2 minutes, so no cue. Metro ticket:2 euros per way.

Food/drink here is much better than some UK venues - large pizza, fries & a drink was €7.20. Other choices were similar prices. Toilets clean.

The venue is relatively easy to access, once you are in Milan. It has a dedicated stop on the M2 metro line and, on the way there, the trains seemed to be relatively frequent.
The ticket machines are not very clear. The metro system in Milan runs on a flat fare basis, unless you travel out of the urban area and you do to get to the stadium. There was information available to help me decide what ticket I needed to buy but the machines were not set up to make finding that ticket an easy process so if you are planning a visit and you have not been before make sure you leave time to figure this out.
Once at the metro stop for the venue, signposts directed the way. However, determining the actual entrance way was a little tricker and the few available staff were more interested in barking instructions that trying to help the confused attendees.
There is a food court before you enter the main arena, I didn’t use this so I cannot comment expect to say that it looked busy.
There are food and drink stalls within the venue. You have to order at one counter, take a ticket and then go to a separate counter to collect the items. This was not clear and was causing confusion among many attendees. I ordered a chicken burger and a beer. I got a hot burger roll filled with ice cold breaded chicken (a new Italian delicacy perhaps?) and not very pleasant beer. I had been thinking that the prices were not too bad but having tasted the products I was definitely over charged.
I was seated in the upper bowl, second row. I had a great view of a metal barrier but not such a good view of the court. At a guess I would think that at least the first four rows would have had a similar issue. As there is no big screen, I missed many moments of the game simply because of the position of the barrier.
I completely understand the need for a safety barrier but some more thought needs to go in to planning a venue so that the barrier does not obstruct the view, if this cannot be avoided the tickets must come with a warning that there is very restricted view.
The stadium is old and this shows in the seats – most of them had lost their identifying number. The sections were not clearly marked, in fact at the bottom of each section was a number that was completely unrelated. This made I difficult for people to identify their seats and the few staff on hand did not seem interested in providing support to those who needed it.
We were some of the first people in and yet the floor was incredibly dirty and sticky, suggesting that it had not been cleaned for a long time.
At half time the queue for the toilets was so long it began to merge with the queues for food – yet more confusion.
I’ve travelled to venues in the US, the UK, France, Germany and Belgium and can easily say that this was the worst I have been to.
At the end of the game I headed to the metro station to discover that it would be 25 minutes before the next train. It did seem that I had just missed one as the platform was not that busy when I got there but at that time of night, and given that the game had been a sell out, the lack of trains was unacceptable. The platform was incredibly crowded by the time the train finally arrived and people were squeezing on. Contrasting this to events like Eurobasket, whee they had a slick operation for getting everyone on public transport all I can say is that yet again Milan let itself down.
