If you get a chance watch the episode of the show "Mayday" about the Swiss Air tragedy for a better idea of the true sadness of this small towns remembrance to people they didn't even know.

Such a good place for a memorial for those you lost their lives on Swiss Air Flight 111. Nicely done. Quiet place to reflect.

Memorial to SwissAir Flight 111.On September 2, 1998 the aircraft used for the flight, registered HB-IWF, crashed into the Atlantic Ocean southwest of Halifax International Airport at the entrance to St. Margarets Bay, Nova Scotia. The crash site was 8 kilometres (5 mi) from shore, roughly equidistant between the tiny fishing and tourist communities of Peggys Cove and Bayswater. All... More

This is a very worthwhile stop along your journeys. It is a sobering reminder of the tragedy that befell that flight but the location is gorgeous and the memorial is very well done. If you remember the tragedy or simply wish to pay your respects to the people who lost their lives, this is an easy stop to make and,... More

This was a sobering reminder of the tragedy, but more than that, it was a spectacular and tasteful homage to both the loss to the families AND the strength of the communities that were affected. The dramatic shoreline was beautifully honoured by this very tasteful sculptural monument. The surrounding plaques were very informative, and the walk down from the car... More

I come here sometimes to think and regroup. The landscape is picturesque. It is a solemn place set a few kms from Peggy's Cove Lighthouse. This memorial is one of two, the second is at Bayswater, directly across from Bayswater Beach.

Certainly one more for the adults and a nice Memorial site for the ill fated Swiss Air flight. Was free to visit and on a more clear day (was really foggy when we were there) you could see alot more of the ocean and surrounds.....

My wife and I stop here on our way to Peggys Cove not initially knowing what the memorial represented. The memorial is very well laid out and gives one a very scenic view, though quite far away, of the crash site. The tribute is very well presented and led us to doing further research on the crash. The memorial does... More

This memorial is right off the road less than a mile outside of Peggy's Cove. Obviously a deeply emotional memory for locals and those families who lost loved ones, and it is a worthy reminder for tourists traveling through the area. Depending upon your interest, a visit need not take more than 10-15 minutes.
