Wonderful olive oil!
Sep 2021 • Friends
I first visited here 10+ years ago as a friend knew the area well. The olive oil was great and I wished I had more. So being in the area again we called in.

The proprietor was very friendly and gave us some tastings and explanation about the oil. We bought as much as we could squeeze in the car. Really great olive oil.

Do visit here. Well worth it.

Excellent and educative
Jul 2019 • Family
The friendly host with Italian roots showed us with great pride and passion how his olive oil is produced. He even showed us a short movie about the production process, the gastronomic use and the effects on your health. Afterwards we had a degustation in the little shop. I strongly recommend visiting this place.

Grateful for kindness extended to a family on a very rainy day.
Oct 2018 • Family
It had been raining since Sunday night, so we decided on an indoor activity, to visit an olive oil mill nearby on Monday morning. Hubby phoned one mill, to no avail, then this family mill Fortuné Arizzi, which produces l’Huile d’Olive Extra Vierge Pur Terroir in Les Mées. Unbeknown to us then, Monsieur Jean-Charles Arizzi himself answered, and said we could visit before 11am. We arrived under more pouring rain, driving through big metal gates, a haze of olive tree fields in the distance. We parked near the 17th century ‘mas’ farmhouse. With our puppy tucked under our arms, we followed Mr Arizzi down cobbler-stone steps and paths, under cover of raincoats and hoods, to the first hall where the machine-press was held. We were the only visitors, and we spluttered thanks and apologies for dragging him out in this weather. He was very kind, and explained to us the various sections, telling us that here they use whole olives, seeds and fruit, in one single cold press process. Since the seeds contain a natural preservative, their oil can be stored longer, and as they use a mix of three types of olives, their olive oil has a very low level of acidity, a sign of high quality. And here he gently dropped the thunder... he has no more olive oil in stock to sell to us, it was all bought out, the next harvest is soon but not yet, for he harvests late, in November instead of August, for the full ripeness of the olives. Still, he guided us to the next hall, with a low curved ceiling and stone covered walls, where we watched a video about his domaine and the history of the Arizzi oil, how they use a helicopter to pollinate the trees, how they supply the Michelin starred restaurant at Château-Arnoux-Saint Auban, under chef Jany Gleizé, he who had catered a quatorze juillet national day celebration feast for president Mitterand. Of course, none of that information sank in until later, as we were distracted by rain and puppy. We then visited the little boutique where Mr Arizzi let us taste his truffle-infused olive oil (which he still has in stock), as well as an amazing balsamic vinegar. We bought a bottle of each for gifts, and our girls chose postcards and olive oil soaps. Hubby asked him for recommendations to a local bistrot, a simple restaurant for families, and he offered to call up Au goût du jour, and booked us a table under his name. He wished us a bon séjour, he did not like rain himself, there has been too much this year. We thanked him again, and wished him sunshine in return. Seeing it was already lunchtime, we drove directly to the bistrot, stopping only to feed puppy in the carpark opposite. A good tip from Mr Arizzi himself, this type of family bistrot linked to a Michelin restaurant meant that the food would come from a shared kitchen, of high standard but much more modestly priced. The maitre d was calm and friendly, and after taking our orders, we told him of our visit to the Arizzi domain, and of our disappointment that they had ran out of olive oil to sell. “Why”, he replied softly, “we buy only Arizzi oil, we may have a few bottles left in the hotel boutique... let me go and query, meanwhile, you can taste it here,” and he pointed out the little bottle of shiny green golden oil on our table. He brought us a basket of bread, and we dipped pieces into puddles of Arizzi oil on our plates, tasting a fruity silky oil, with no hint of acidity. At the end of yet another wonderful meal, he led us next door, past the dining rooms of the Michelin restaurant, to the four star hotel hall, where bottles of oil were displayed amongst other famous Provence produce. We bought two precious bottles, and on our way out, met chef Gleizé himself. He greeted us warmly, and chuckled at our tale. Afterwards, I bemoaned to my family how we had not taken any photos, with either the chef nor Mr Arizzi. “Don’t worry, mummy,” my eleven year old replied wisely, “You can write about it.” She was right. And so I did.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your (rainy) adventure with us and the Tripadvisor community. Your review reads like a novel ... We are glad to have been able to help you and your family enjoyed a day in Provence notwithstanding the rain and the limited availability of our olive oil. We have known Jany Gleize for many years and it has always been a great delight working with him and his team at La Bonne Etape to welcome guests in our region. We hope to welcome you back … on a sunny day!

Olive oil heaven!
Sep 2018 • Couples
My husband and I went to the beautiful moulin arizzi while staying in the area in September. We were so fortunate to meet the owner, Jean-Charles, who took us around and delightfully educated us on olive oil production. It is a family operation with wonderful history. The shop was lovely with mainly olive related products. This visit was a highlight!!!!

Honest and Good Quality Olive Oil
Aug 2018 • Couples
Wonderful honest local products! We walked into Moulin Fortune Arizzi thinking of getting some olive oil but ended up walking away with better knowledge about how oive oil were made, the taste, the hard work put into producing quality olive oil. A taste of Provence indeed (well said by reviewers)!

A taste of Provence
Aug 2017 • Family
I've heard it said that Provence is where the sun turns colors into perfumes. This lovely, organic, family-run, provençal olive oil mill is proof that it is also where sun, love, and care turn earth into glorious flavor. Meet the proprietors and be inspired by their passion, taste the sunshine and salt air in their golden-hued oils soaked into local breads, and absorb the beauty of their farmland and historic mas (farmhouse). You'll be glad you did. And, don't forget to stop by the remarkable, towering rock formation Les Penitents while you're so close by. You'll love the whole experience.

Thank you for your review. The sun has recently been shining with all its might in Provence with temperature above 40 Celsius … Without it, it would be impossible for us to offer you the olive oil you tasted :) Thank you for stopping by, and for suggesting to view the famous rock formation Les Pénitents, only 2 km from our estate. Visitors can add to their visit a lunch or dinner at La Marmite du Pêcheur, located right by Les Pénitents and featuring our olive oil :)

we spent half a day here and the family gave us something to remember and bring home. We also brought 3 ltrs of Oil which we have nearly consumed, its delicious, so good you can drink it, and we do. There was a son visiting from the USA whilst we went through the tour. The whole family had an input. lovely!
The whole place is immaculate, beautifully manicured grounds, and the histoy of the farm told in a personal way.

A little piece of heaven
Aug 2014 • Couples
Extremely good products, of the best quality -- I bought olive oil and body lotion. They are very very good, I am very satisfied.
Moreover, the place is nice and quiet, with an adorable little terrace. Definitely worth dropping by.
There will be a dog who will welcome you :)
The owner of the place offered us to watch a movie about the crop and the fabrication of the oil, but unfortunately we were on a hurry, so we didnt see it.
Definitely next time!
