Great place to go
Jul 2020 • Family
Another stop during our road trip and what a great place to stop by and enjoy. Surroundings are just beautiful, the are is free for parking and a small snack bar is available as well all with all you need. The cave it self is a must for visit and it is a lot of fun. It is a guided tour and you receive some useful information as well. The tour takes about an hour and it is a real fun.

Just recommend.

Cheers

we were told about this cave by a fellow traveller and decided to see it. it's a bit out of the way but there is a bus from blansko that stops right by the cave. we had a lovely young lady who delivered almost perfect English althoughshe said she wasn't very good. the caves are quite beautiful and we had seen most of the show caves. the formations are beautiful and there is a very well presented section on early hominds. small scale facilities as far as food and souvenirs, but do visit

Moravian karst - Balcarka cave
Jun 2014 • Family
The Balcarka cave is situated in a picturesque karst valley near Ostrov u Macochy. The underground labyrinth of corridors, fissures and caves has two levels. The entrance portal of the cave is a significant paleonthological and archaeological locality. It is a place where bones of Pleistocene animals were found as well as stone and bone instruments and fireplaces of people of the Early Stone Age. Further parts of the cave were discovered in stages in the years 1923–1948. These caves can boast of unique, very rich, varied and colourful stalactite and stalagmite decorations. The parts called 'Gallery' and 'Natural corridor' are among the most beautiful sights of the Moravian Karst. Remarkable are also the circular abysses, the 'Rotundas'.

The guided cave tour lasts about 45 minutes and covers 700 m of passageway, including number of stairs. Bring a light jacket, as the cave temperature is about 8,7 °C (47 °F).
