My partner and I saw this online and figured it will be like any other steamy reserve in the area. However, we decided to book with the intention of doing the guided tour. It was well worth the money, from being picked up and dropped off at our front door to bathing in the mud pools. Although our guide was young, he was very knowledgeable and knew how to cater the tour to his kiwi guests. He shared fascinating stories about some of the areas of the reserve and had us play with some clay with very interesting physical properties! We got to attempt and keep some whakairo, and try their mud and sulfur pools. This was definitely the highlight of our 9 day holiday and will be coming back again!…

This place was superb. The walk was peaceful, interesting and even in the height of summer we had plenty of space and time to ourselves. The hot pools were magical and the mud pool was excellent. Really couldn't recommend it more. We loved it. Thank you for being friendly, and relaxed.…

I've always wanted to do this and so glad we did. We went at night and it was amazing, nice and peaceful staff were so friendly and a good laugh. Definitely a must do for the experience. Didn't take to long to get the smell out of our togs either after following the washing instructions we were provided at reception. …
