Great time with my daughter taking a semi-private lesson with our instructor Tim. He was very patient and showed us all the surfing basics to get started. Highly recommend Pure Life surfing school for anyone wanting to hit the waves.

We were visiting Daytona on a winter vacation and my kids wants to try surfing. We found Pure Life for a 2 hour lesson and my first timer kids aged 14 and 16 had an awesome experience. Bernie gave them excellent instruction and they both got up on several waves. They had a ball and are hooked. I highly recommend Pure Life Surf School. Too bad we’re not closer to waves, my kids would be out there everyday.

Absolutely amazing Father's Day on the water! LJ and Tim had me riding waves before I knew what was happening. The education beyond just trying to stand up and surf was incredible. I learned more about the process than I could have hoped for in just one lesson. Can't wait to get back to Daytona and do it all again! Thank you!!

Was in Daytona Beach for a conference and booked a lesson. I am an experienced beginner and had a friend who ended up tagging along who has never tried to surf in the ocean. In fact she was totally petrified of it. The break was pretty challenging, but that didn't stop our instructor, Peter, from getting things rolling and getting us out in the surf. Since I was comfortable in the water and already had a working knowledge, Peter put his focus on my friend. Nevertheless, he was able to keep an eye on me and throw out some good coaching. We were able to stand up a couple times and left knowing more then when we started. A job well done, especially considering the less than ideal conditions.

My son has been doing a week or two of surf lessons with Pure Life for the last 4 years (started when he was 10). He is not super athletic so I was worried about how this would work out. LJ (owner) said not to worry (I did). My son loves the camp so much, he was able to get up and surf on the first day which is typical of this camp. He goes every year and it has become the only camp he wants to consistently do each year. He is now 14 and it is the only camp he does. A great outfit, fun, safe, and positive.

Recently had the opportunity during spring break a few weeks ago to use pure life surf school. My 16 year old daughter and 14 year old son took a private lesson. They had a blast and both were able to get up after just a few tries! I highly recommend pure life and they will remember the experience forever. My wife and I were able to watch the whole lesson from beach chairs..

Our teenage daughters had begged us for surf lessons on our recent trip to Daytona Beach, and we found Pure Life through Tripadvisor. Neither of our girls had ever surfed before, and their first lesson was just perfect. LJ was extremely knowledgeable and patient, and had both girls up and surfing by the end of the lesson. The girls liked it so much, we went back 3 days later for a second lesson. We would highly recommend Pure Life Surf School!

We have often visited the Daytona Beach area and were staying in the area again this summer. Being an only child, my daughter sometimes gets tired of being stuck at home (or on vacation) with grown-ups all summer. We decided Pure Life Surf Camp would be an awesome thing to try. She was really nervous about it and was kinda intimidated the first day but the instructors were great and made her feel really good about it. By lunchtime on Monday when I checked in with her, she was begging me to let her stay until 2. Overall she had a lot of fun, a really good time and from the video that I watched, she seemed to learn more than I expected. She wasn't out there with the big waves but she was definitely riding waves to shore and having fun. They have a video and photograph package....well worth ordering rather than me trying to take pictures and not succeeding very well.
Here are the only nuances to my otherwise very positive impressions: while she went the entire week (and it was probably good for her to do so), it is possible to go for only a day. I noticed that on Monday, there were a lot more kids and perhaps a lot more range of capabilities which allowed the teachers to be more flexible in their groupings. It was also really flat the first day. My concern came the second day when there weren't as many kids there. I guessed there were maybe 20 kids. While the age range of the camp went from 7 to 15, my daughter was 10 and seemed one of the younger ones there. There seemed to be 2 girls (my daughter and another little girl) who were about the same age and who hadn't surfed previously. At the beginning of the day, they were trying to get these two girls to go out to the second set of waves. I imagine it's probably because the other kids in camp could surf the bigger waves. These two girls had been surfing for a day and couldn't and didn't want to try. Eventually they came out by themselves. I asked what was wrong and they started crying and saying they was scared to go out there because the waves were way too big and the water was over their heads and they were having a hard time getting the surfboards out there. Once the instructor saw me talking to them, she came out and I know they eventually got them out into the water and them surfing closer to shore. It did bother me though since I didn't think that was something they should have done the second day out there, especially once it became clear how nervous and uncomfortable they were. I don't know much about surfing but it seems that if the waves are rough enough and the kids are little/inexperienced enough not to be able to get the surfboards out that far, they shouldn't be asked to go out that deep. We came at the end of the summer though and it may have been that earlier in the summer they were more equipped for beginners or more likely to have enough beginners. Also maybe if there was a different instructor (I don't think her regular instructor was there that day), they would've been more comfortable working with newbie surfers.
She had a great time overall and is looking forward to doing it again!

A day at Daytona beach was one of the highlights from our 7 day Florida vacation and the 90 minutes of instruction at Pure Life Surf School will be memories to last a lifetime! The instructors were very experienced, patient, and FUN. We were two families - our husbands and teenage boys (16-18) have spent countless hours and winters in a hockey rink, but catching a wave was a new experience for all of them. All got up and had an awesome time!! I highly recommend LJ and crew. It was a first class experience.
