One enters through a dramatic white gateway that opens upon a sprawling and serene cemetery where one finds the graves of soldiers from different origins and different times. It is well cared for, and offers a few Kodak moments. However, as a foreigner, while I...More

We visited the cemetery as part of a tour. The cemetery is very clean and tidy. Our guide told us that the graves are actually empty and that the cemetery is a popular destination for school trips to show the proud history of Transnistria.

Organized, serene. Graves are more of memorials than graves in a classical sense. You can start your Bender walk at white/blue Church at Y crossing, go through this cemetery, toward Citadel. About 40 min walk. Well, you have to use up your 10h time on...More

Memorials to those who fought in Transniester wars from the 1800s on. Some Russian, Hungarian, Moldovan. This region has a very complex history of wars back and forth, most recently 1990 to 1992. Worth a stop since you are there anyway

We had a day tour through Bender, this was our first stop with our guide. The cemetery is very well kept and has many sections from different war periods. You can't miss this place with its wonderful entrance, it's a nice photo op.

This cemetery contains the graves of soldiers of many countries - not only this one - who died for their country: Russians, who came in the eighteenth century with Potemkin, Swedes, who came with Charles XII (at the end of the path on the left),...More
