The park spread in area of 90 acres was established in 1992 and open from 10 am to 5 pm. Photography is chargeable for Rs 50/-. Avoid monsoon visits. We had visited in December in midst of snow all around and located in midst of jungle and nature. It takes approximately 1 hour to take a round. It is a good place of learning and witnessing the bio-diversity for kids and even adults too. Limited camping facilities and facilities for guided treks, especially for student groups, are available with permission of forest officer. There are Deers, Monals, Pheasants, Snow Leopard, White peacock, Tibetan Wolves, Himalayan bear. There is lot of flora and fauna seen around. Some common types of bushes and shrubs which can be found in the reserve are blue pine, deodar, holly, oak and spruce.

The kufri nature park wasn't recommend by the locals but to our suprise when we went it was a really great experience. We got to see all the animals from carnivorous leopards and bears to deers and sheep. It was a wonderful nature walk for us. Even got to check out the taxidermy of animals at the end. Definitely ticked off the bucket list for highest zoo in india

Its not a very big sanctuary but still its very well maintained by the management. The wild animals are much more well behaved than some of the visitors. I found a family who were throwing hard ice to a leapord named Ravi. Disgusting. I cant believe that old man,his wife 2 adult f#*in sons are enjoying throwing snow and even taking pride for that.. I called a care taker to show them whats happening, they immediately came with 2 guards and the took the family away. After that incident the care taker happily started to walk with me , chatting about d zoo and showed many more things which may not be opened for nornal visitors. He showed me A big cat named Ravi. A beautiful baby black bear. He was such a nice human being. I would like to request to the management to take tough decission against those who try to disturb the animals of the sanctuary.
And try to appoint more guards to look after ..

This zoo is located 500 meters ahead of horse riding point while you go from Shimla to Kufri, but surprisingly most of the people are unaware of the same. It has a snow leopard which is rare to find in most of the zoos.

The track up and down hill provides a vary good nature watch where animals are kept in ample amount of space. There is a lot of variety of animals available specially Goral, snow leopard and Himalayas bear. The is the place to just stroll if you are staying in Kufri enjoying wild animals , wilderness surrounding with maggi , pakora and tea. Do not forget to enjoy some good local wine and fruit cedar available in one of the shops in kufri .. (there are 8-10 small shops near the location only)

Go only if you got nothing else to do and would want to burn a few calories by walking on the trails inside the park. They charge you Rs. 25/- per person and they got nothing.

Warning : Beware of the monkeys while you are in Kufri. They snatch anything they can especially the sunglasses.

Please give this a miss!
It is the only thing to do while you are here, but its just not worth it!
There are about 18-20 animals, some deer and some birds..and leopards.
It is a very different terrain..hilly and steep down..a good walk indeed, but guess the cages dont make the animals comfortable!
For instance, the bear has been put in such a huge cage, with no trees or playful surroundings, no water hole, its so disturbing to see the animal just pacing up and down!
The same applies for the leopard!
Though it very clean, well maintained, it does not justify its presence.

There is nothing good here. Very few animals and not in a maintained condition. Animals look sick and pity them personally. Senseless visitors keep disturbing animals and no care takers seen inside the zoo. You can see staffs only at the entry counters.

However good landscape for animals to survive if maintained in good condition.

Dont waste your time here !!!
