I was a bit dissapointed to be honest.
nice little trip. Nice views.
very busy and other than the views not much else.
parking on the park and ride is not worth it, better to park in the top car park.
Swiss Boheimer and Tisa nicer walks and close by car.

We stopped here on the way from Dresden to Bad Schandau, around 4 PM just in time for the sun to peak out from behind the clouds. Great views with a leisurely historical walk over the bridge and through the former Felsunburg fortress. Great time of year without large crowds. It was not easy to get specific directions or an estimate on the length of the walk but it was probably only around 3 km including a full tour of the fortress. We paid for parking about 500 meters from the entrance, where there was a toilet and a hotdog cart. The cafe was not yet open. It is free to go over the bridge but costs 2.5 euros to walk through the remains of the fortress.

This fabulous bridge built between the rocks over the Elba river is a great place! You can get there from two places (Stadt Wehlen which is an attraction itself with a great Tourist info place or Kurort Rathen), so there is no need go back the same way. The walk up is not very challenging for people who like walking, the views on the way and up on the bridge are stunning. There is a small entrance fee in the middle of the Bastei, from where you will take the best pictures of the bridge and the area, but if you omit that part - the trip will still be unforgettable.
You can also make it as part of a longer trail along the river through a spectacular forest with rocks lost and forgotten in it.
The place is available by train from Dresden and then next to the statoin (Stadt Wehlen or Kurort Rathen, which is closer to the bridge) there is a ferry to take you to the other side of the Elba. From there you can see the trails taking also to different destinations worth seeing.

Impressive bridge on high altitude. Great view down. Only 17 km from main road (highway), worth visiting. Inside National Park Saxon Switzerland! There are hotels / to eat/drink something. Parking is 5 € up to 3 hours (enough to visit). Nature, clean air, great views.

Travelling with my three teenagers this was the location for the greatest selfies ever. We found it easy to explore as most of the paths are paved. There are some stairs - but take your time and you will be well rewarded by the views. You can easily spend 1-2 hours here without doing any of the hikes. So many wonderful pictures to take of both the bridge, the river, and the rock formations.

Beautiful location. Busy, yes, but we were there in the middle of the day. You can pay for a view or take a walk yourself. We did not pay and were able to see everything. Lots of stairs! Accessible with a dog. We were able to park nearby (€7 for 2 hours or €12 for a day)

Park for €5 and walk along the Rathenwalder Mühle to Amselgrund and follow the path on the Amselsee promenade to the town of Rathen/Elbe. In the town of Rathen, take the street "Im Grünbach" and from here it goes higher and higher past the "Tiedge Aussicht" with a view of the Elbe and Rathen, further to the "Kanapee Aussicht" on the Elbe and further to the Felsenburg Neurathen (unfortunately closed since September 2023 due to fluctuations in individual rocks). Then you reach the Bastei Bridge, which is currently also accessible, and reach the new "Balcony of Saxony", a floating viewing platform made of prestressed concrete 20 m x 3.50 with a beautiful view. (Duration 1h30 with photo breaks). A very nice hike with great views.

Easy to reach location. From the parking lot (most close) it is 8 min walk. Both to walk on the bridge and the viewpoint on the bridge. The view is of course beautiful. But it is an insanely busy point. You're just lining up to take a picture. So you can't really enjoy the view. I think I would recommend coming very early or very late.
There is catering and toilets (bring cash). Hospitality is very overprized, so bringing your own food and drinks is recommended.

Beautiful place with beautiful views of the Saxon sandy mountains. It will be interesting here both adult and young tourist. You can just walk on the mountains, you can stay in a hotel with beautiful mountain views, or you can just stop by for an hour and wander the hiking trails. I've been here more than once and still draws the place over and over again.

We walked up through the village of Kurort Rathen, along a street that followed a river then a lake, then into the forest. We did the side trip to the waterfall, but there was no water flowing, and we didn’t realise the track kept going and almost ended up in the next village. But getting back to the main track, you then head up stairs, which I believe are about 650 metres in length. It may seem a lot , but this was a spectacular walk through moss covered rocks and forest, and you have to stop lots to take photos. For those Aussies of my vintage , 60s, ‘ Miranda , come back ‘ ...lol. It took my husband and me about 30 minutes for this part, we took lots of photos. When you finish the steps you come to an intersection, with a shelter, and you turn right. This will take you passed the car park and onto the beginning of the lookouts. It’s worth doing all the lookouts, then cross the bridge. There is a €2 fee for going into the old castle , which was interesting and worthwhile. Then a stroll back to town, having done about a 4or 5 km loop. Information at the tourist office near train station will give you a map, which says this walk should take about 2.5hours. We spent 3 hours all up, including our side trip, and a wait for the rain to stop. While I was concerned about the track being slippery, despite the rain, it was okay as even the steps are dirt, not rock. Would recommend good soled walking shoes.
There have been many posts about the crowds. We arrived at the bridge about 4pm, and hoards of people were leaving, possibly bus groups. There were still quite a few around the bridge, but it was okay at that time . Probably wouldn’t want to be there in the middle of the day.

The walk from the parkinglot took about 10 min, but well at the site the distances are short. However, We didn’t do the real climb from the village, since We had kids with us.
