Disappointed

Got a discount for entrance fees. Normal is RMB 150 but RMB 90 due to ongoing renovation. And they are renovating the Buddha statue. 😑😑😑 Nothing much to see other than artifacts made from wood and copper. They have a vegan restaurant on 6th floor. Reasonable price. Minimum spent of RMB 400 for private room. 😊

An Understated Gem in Yulin

This attraction is hardly advertised and information about it is difficult to find on the Internet. Yuntian Cultural City (aka “Cloud and Sky”/”Yun Tian Gong” temple) is a 21 storey “cultural centre” in Yulin that has a massive copper Buddha allegedly the tallest indoor Buddha statue in the world at 33m high and weighing 600 tonnes.

I understand the centre was built in 1998 by an entrepreneur from Taiwan at a cost of approximately 30M dollars and is considered to be a (quite controversial) attempt to replicate the "Potala Palace” in Tibet.

When we visited on a Saturday, there was hardly anyone else there, and we saw some amazingly intricate wooden and jade carvings, enjoyed the splendid views over the city and a walk around the lovely gardens, enjoying a very pleasant lunch provided as part of the ticket price.

We visited on a June day when temperatures were around 30 degrees centigrade in the shade, but there were plenty of cool areas inside and out of the building to sit and contemplate.

We were only in Yulin for a day, as we were visiting some family there, so didn't have time to see much else of the city. In our opinion, it is worth taking a significant detour just to visit this 'temple' and you can easily spend a full day there admiring all the exhibits inside the building as well as the impressive features outside.

If you will visit Yulin one day, you have to see Yuntian Cultural City. It is the prettiest thing you can see in this town. Entry is 150 RMB, so its not cheap, but its not so expensive and its equal this place.

Awesome!!! If you are in the area, it is a must see attraction. It's a far away province west of Guangzhou (Canton) with no tourist at all. Nearest airport which is 2 hours from Guangzhou is Naning City and then a 3 hour drive going at 140 kph non stop to the city. There are more motorcycles than cars and the place is very dust and smoggy. Humidity is 100% and all the floors of the stores and restaurants are wet and ceilings dripping with the condensation. Even inside the Yuntain Cultural Center. You can view photos of the site on my Facebook album

Extravagant
This is one of the most extravagant things I've seen, especially in the middle of a poor city. The sculptures are jaw-dropping and have to be seen to be believed.
