We luck on this beach and location purely by chance to break our bus trip to San Sebastion. What a find for some beach hungry Australians. The surf was good and after a refreshing dip we came alive....16/17 at best but that was fine. The...More

Beautiful sandy beach. We visited as part of our walk around the are. It was Sunday. Quite busy, but not packed - like an English beach . showers available just off the sand . excellent place to unwind

Visited as part of a drive around the region and found this gem of a beach, along the road from San Vicente de la Barquera which is a place worth a visit for the castle and church as well as super restaurants.

Several kilometers of beautiful beaches, and we chose this one as it was the larger of the beaches and we had stopped in town for the afternoon. The water was warm, the sand is very clean, fine, easy to talk along and the beach has...More

San Vicente de la Barquera (6 Replies)
We've visited lots of pueblos in Cantabria, but have never had the opportunity to stay in SVB. We are hoping to do that this summer. I'm looking for suggestions for menu del dia restaurants, wifi hotspot pubs etc. We will likely be staying on the beach side near playa Meron. What all is over there? Also, in other towns of the north I noticed that it was common to make lunch in the apartamento, but then go out for dinner. Is this true in SVB as well? Thanks.

San Vicente is lovely, one of my favourite towns in Cantabria, and a great place for a holiday. There are plenty of restaurants in the centre, and down by the beaches, which offer ver tasty and affordable menus at lunch time, and some in the evening too. Down by Meron, there is a supermarket, bars, some surf and tourist shops, surf schools, and several restaurants and cafes. A place where we often go for tapas and raciones is the right hand restaurant opposite the Tostadero beach (the...More
