Picos, Potes & Soplao Cave

Travelers to northern Spain shouldn't miss a chance to experience the region's natural beauty. On this daylong tour from Santander, visitors are whisked to the Picos de Europa mountains, and Hermida Gorge. After a mountaintop photo opportunity, explore El Soplao Cave, and marvel at its natural rock formations. Along the way, visit a small village—Potes—and stop at a monastery housing the Lignum Crucis. Rejuvenate during the busy day with a traditional lunch, included in the tour price.

We took a 4x4 day tour into Picos de Europa with Picostour and were delighted with the entire experience. Our guide Pedro was great - very friendly, accommodating and despite not being fluent in English he was engaging and made a real effort to make the day informative and enjoyable (his English was far more advanced than our terrible attempts at Spanish!). We were met promptly at our accommodation and were taken along narrow 4WD tracks into the mountains, along incredible routes with astounding scenery. Would recommend this experience to anyone wanting to access the more remote areas of Picos without having to hike for miles. Being a group of photographers we had quite a lot of gear and this was a great way to maximise our time in the mountains.

We really enjoyed the horseback riding through the wonderful scenery of the Picos de Europa. Very friendly and enthusiastic guides. It made us want more... So we had a wonderful canyoning-experience in the afternoon. Our guide Alejandro let us expand our bounderies, without pushing it to hard. We had a lot of fun! Once home we enjoyed the photo’s they sent us by mail. Thanks!

My husband and son enjoyed a 2hr quad biking tour around the picos countryside. It was €80 for both of them. The tour guide was friendly and spoke good English and took them through the villages and countryside around Potes. My husband said the only frustration was our 14 year old son not being allowed to drive a quad - but at least they have good safety rules that they stick to!

my son and I wanted to go the Cares route. Difficulties in getting there and back (there are busses but..) made us try the Picostour that have a tour that takes from 9 to 17:30 and with the Cares tour by ourselves in the middle. We to and from we went on absolute "off the beaten track" roads only possible by a 4x4 Landcover THIS was very beautiful - uphill and to views so beautiful. It cost 50€ each but I would do it again primarily because of the breathtaking tour on the small trails with the car. Not 5 stars because the driver don't speak one word english :-/.

We took a 4x4 trip in a Range Rover with our guide Jose. We arranged to have the jeep to ourselves (wife and I) and so we came to an arrangement on cost. Normally it's 60 euros per person (for four persons in the vehicle) but we paid 90 euros each. The trip through the Picos mountains was spectacular on roads and tracks that aren't available to the normal motorist: you really get into the heart of the mountains. The weather was excellent and this added to the enjoyment of course. Jose gave us a good running commentary but his English is a little stilted BUT far better than my Spanish. This didn't spoil the trip as Jose is affable and a superb driver. I'm not the best at dealing with heights and some of the mountain passes are at heights that would normally worry me but Jose was slow and particular when it was needed. i felt very safe with him at the wheel. I would heartily recommend the trip if you want to see the interior of the Picos mountains.
