Of all the tribal villages we visited on this trip Dorze is definitely the most beautiful! First, there are the interestingly shaped woven and "shrinking" houses shaped like elephant heads, the weaving men, the clean mountain environment, the good honey, strong "haraka" drink, and the very tasty false banana pancake! The dancing ritual and the selling of weaving products goes along with tourism, but some weaving is so beautiful that I simply did not want to resist - and why would I, it cannot be found anywhere else.
What we also saw in the village is a new guest house, owned by the village itself, and it consists of several bungalows styled just like mini Dorze houses! They have proper beds inside, of course, and I only wish we had known about that ahead of our visit, because sleeping in that village and in one of those houses would have been lovely. It is also a good opportunity to help local tourism, and a cheaper option than staying at big hotels around.

I really liked it so much.
The tour guide explained so much that it changed the way I think about the dorze people.
We ate and danced which was very fun.
They gave us clothes but if you are a guest they even give you animal skin clothes.
Don't think that you can take the clothes to your home since it's there's but I think maybe you have to buy them.the one they gave me was a the skin of a cheetah and it even had it's nails on.me and my brother can speak 3 languages like:amharic, english and Italian and that helpd us to talk thinks in secret.

After the day of arrival from UK we travel to South Omo Tribes. We drove to Aribaminch. On the way we make a visit at Dorze Tribes. The people have unique way life. They have dome shaped hut, make agriculture and waving for their daily life. The people made bread from falls Banana /Inset/. They have unique dances and they live in a compact village together.

I didn't enjoy the Dorze village as much as others who gave a review on this site. The view from the Dorze Lodge was very nice. The Dorze women were very kind and friendly. I felt that the dancing children on the road on the way up and down the mountain were dancing for tourists' money and nothing else, it seemed sad to me. I also felt that money was the main concern of the the people who run the village. I didn't feel love or warmth from them. I felt like they were only interested in tourists for their money. Maybe you will have a better experience than I did.

It’s something to do on an afternoon while in Arbaminch but to me it’s a bit to contrived and staged. Pretty scenery and the people are nice but it didn’t seem very realistic. They dress you up in a costume and show you their customs. I’m not sure of the cost because it was included in our tour.

Dorze village is about a one hour drive from Arbaminch up a mountainous road. You will be greeted by children dancing on the road (bring candy/treats to share). Once in the village, you will get a tour of the houses (shaped like elephants), their way of life (spinning, weaving, dancing), their food-especially the Konjo bread made from the fake banana tree topped with spices and honey from their hives. You will have the most fun doing the toasts with their homemade Areke (moonshine). Our agent arranged the trip for us.

The day trip to dorze village with Tarik +251 92 561 6961 was a lot of fun. I wanted to use public transport but because it didn't fit my schedule Tarik quickly organized a motorcycle to go to the village. The ride was already part of the adventure. I was impressed by the buildings and beautiful scarfs the Dorze weave. To end our trip we even had time to visit the dorsso waterfall.

The Dorze village has really found a good view to make a respectful and nice experience for Tourists to their communicy. You have a local guide (mandatory) who show you around to explain how the society works. You are shown the local practicises and how they make e.g. kotcho (fermented bread made of false banana). Then you end brough to have a sit down and tasting of kotche (with honey and chili - delicious) and of the local hard licquor. You have the possibility to buy some handicraft - but noone will haggle you. It is all togehter very interesting a very pleasant experience

we are six friends from four Austria two Denmark. We rent only car and driver. lungo suggests in each tourist destination like where to sleep, what to see and do. During our arrival we explore by ourselves and more by our driver assistance.
You have no idea how much we appreciated the work you did, setting up our group tour to the southern Ethiopia. All the hotels medium class and guides that you selected for our single trip were perfectly located within walking distances from every town’s city center. The country incredible, the local guides were all friendly, knowledgeable and the dinner was very romantic and perfect. The driver AHEMED was friendly and courteous, allowing us time to explore the sites for ourselves. Local tour www.localtourethiopia.com

thank you and i want to know the number of villages in dorze, population number there.
Written March 9, 2018
I’m not sure if I have all the answers to your questions but I do know that the Dorze have villages mainly around Chencha and some around Arba Minch. They number in the the thousands but many have adapted to a more modern way of life, leaving the traditional woven beehive houses..
Hope that this helps.
