We were really looking forward to see the park when I went to Arba Minch. Too sad that we were informed that the park is temporarily closed to visitors due to security issues. The staff informed that the park may re-open after one month or so.

After Omo Valley four day tour we stayed three nights in Arba Minch which is a typical African town. We hired a local guide to enter Nech Sar National Park. I requested a boat trip but for some reason it wasn’t available so we drove 25 km to the mountain and another 25 km back. The road itself wasn’t that bad but the cars are in bad condition and it took 2,5 hours to get there and another 2,5 hours back. If you plan to do a car drive make sure it has working AC since there are tonns of nasty horse flies (who bite) accompanying you in the car!! Mosquito repellante has no use. Long pants and long sleeve shirts are must to wear despite of the overwhelming heat. At the mountain we took half an hour walk and saw couple of zebras, two monkeys and big spiders. Totally not worth for $190! If you want to see wildlife go to South-Africa.

We arrived at ariba minch late in the afternoon after visiting Dorze Tribes. In the next morning we drive to Nech Sar National park. The park ecology is very divers and drives the park around 12 km. we arrived on the plain land and see zebra and wild goat. It was so interesting but the road inside the park is so uncomfortable and hilarious in some areas. The government should think over it.

I have been to Arba Minch 6 times already and done the Chamo lake cocodrile market (azzo gabaya) all Six of them. The full nech sar park visit only once. I have to say that, while the first four times it was a really different and beautifull experience with lots of coodriles sightings and Many hippos, the last two have been very, very dissapointing. Were before you actually got to see the gabaya now they do just a short one hour boat ride to the nearest cocodrile and (if you are lucky) hippo group. You can really tell that they are showing you the barest mínimum and as soon as they can justify that you have seen a couple of annimals, they go back. It really is a pity. The annimals are there (even if they may need a little more time to find them), it is the service that is not so good at all anymore. I have complained and discussed with the guide asociation about this and they just lower the head and guive a few notsogood excuses or apologies.
I am sorry but in my opinion, this actitvity is just not worth it anymore, unless, of course you are simply happy with a simple boat ride (the place is beautiful) with very few annimals and (yes) some birds. But not the cocodrile market any more.

Zebras and other animals can be seen near by, while seeing lion while on foot didn't seem to be a great idea for us.
Not ideal for kids and old people, as the safari has no vehicles and you'll need to walk. Need good shoes for the rough terrain, and a walking stick wouldn't be a bad idea too.
The air is bit dry, you'll sweat a lot, so better to carry 3-4 ltrs of water if you're going for more than a half day's hiking.
Might encounter nomads with 100s of cows and carrying AK47, which is also a good experience.
The park will provide you with an armed scout for a fee, which is a great idea, seeing the proximity of Hippos and crocodiles.

I was there to visit south omo tribes and rift valley lakes by this month. It is the most beautiful places with different natural attractions. For anyone who wants to visit the town, I recommend Nech-sar National Park and crocodile market makes you feel very happy!

It was a nice day out but below my expectations for a Safari.
You will see some wildlife: zebras, antelopes, baboons, tic tic.
There are 2 options:
By road which is what we did. A very rough road that wasted most of the time driving to the plains. Our car broke down, we had to walk until they fixed it. Another group's car broke down and blocked the road.My advice is not to use the road option, if you do, make sure you are using a decent 4x4 car.
Option 2 is to go by boat via the lake and then go for a 3 hour trekking Safari. I will certainly take this option next time.
Either way, take lots of water and food. Make sure you have a hat and sunscreen.
